Most people are unable to log into ecas until they are approved as sponsor. So wait until you're approved, then give it a few days to a week. Then you should be able to log in. And remember, ecas is notoriously unreliable. Don't let it stress you out :)

Hi :) We never saw "in process" on ecas. The only updates we got were 1) when we were able to log in a little while after sponsorship approval 2) when it updated to medical received shortly after that 3) when it said decision made the day my partner got his passport back.

Well, it wouldn't hurt the sponsorship. It certainly can be done if you can find a bank that allows non-PRs to have an account (usually you just need an address and status, I think). But unless you opened it with your spouse jointly, I doubt it would have any bearing on your application. Money...
