Sponsored Spouse Questionnaire (IMM-5490): Can sponsor be the interpreter?

dair2dv8103100, for the N/A that you forgot, was it for a whole section (that is, a certain section of questions did not apply and you just left it blank) or was it just one little box in a section where you had already written N/A at the top of that section? It seems ridiculous to me that it...

    Common-law, applying outland?

Hi :) To apply common-law, you have to have lived together for 12 consecutive months in the very recent past, but you do not need to be living together at the time of application. I am in a similar situation. My partner lived with me in Canada for 10 months on a visa, then went back to...

Organizing your app, how did you do it?

Thanks :) Also, about the document checklist itself, if something doesn't apply to you (use of a representative form for example), do you just leave the box blank, or do you write N/A above it or something? And do you have to include the checklist from the "region specific guide" (appendix A...

    Dual Citizenship?

If you are thinking of applying under the Common-Law category, you need to have lived under the same roof together for 12 consecutive months. A month here or there doesn't count. You can be "living together" if you are there on visitor record though, and same goes for him living in the states.

Organizing your app, how did you do it?

Thanks for everyone's input so far! Very helpful :) Just wondering if anyone would advise "integrating" your supporting relationship evidence. For example, in the Sponsored Spouse/Partner Questionnaire, one of the questions asks to provide details on your common law relationship. I have...

Organizing your app, how did you do it?

Hi, my partner and I are at the stage where we have almost everything together, just have to photocopy a couple more items and get the medical over with and now are faced with the challenge of putting the application together in an organized, logical package. So I'm just wondering how everyone...

Translation of Police Certificates needed ?

I am going to send that email with it. I do think most visa officers will speak German though, I have never come across someone at an embassy or consulate (either Canadian or German) who didn't speak the language of the country they were posted in. Don't they have to when they're dealing with...

If the Applicant pays, do you fill in their info?

    Sponsor Questionnaire question

I don't think it matters for the number...Won't they be able to get in touch with your boss if they phone the company? However, if you have the work contact number of your boss, you may as well put that, since it will take less time for them.

Cost of medical exams for sponsorship inside Canada or in Europe ?

We are paying 250 EUR for the exam in Stuttgart, and my partner (who is German) has insurence, but since it is an immigration thing, you still have to pay.

Translation of Police Certificates needed ?

Elizabeth, that is so strange! I have no idea now :S I mean, I am not going to get it translated, because they gave me that reply...Perhaps I should print out that email and send it along with the Police certificate, just in case? I also asked if Personalausweis and passport need to be...

Translation of Police Certificates needed ?

I don't have experience with UK and Portugal, but if your app is being processed through the Berlin Visa office, the German police clearence does not need to be translated; I asked them directly. here is the email reply I received when I asked them: "Dear Sir, we do not require a translation...

    Photos - Background colour query

My partner (who is the applicant), got his photos for the medical exam and the 8 photos required for immigration. He went to a professional photographer (here in Germany) who is used to doing passport photos. The background behind him was plain white, as it is supposed to be, according to...

Help. Need to hear positive things about Vancouver, Port Coquitlam

I already commented on the double post of this thread, but I will repeat myself for the culture question here. I have lived in Vancouver since I was born and I would say there is lots of culture if you know where to look. If you go to Granville island and check out the artist studios or Emily...

    Application returned from Mississauga

Wow, I just read this thread for the first time today, and I am so glad for you that it worked out the second time. My partner and I will be applying common-law in July and it makes me so mad that a VO would be so careless like that! I hope everything works out for you! :)

Help. Need to hear positive things about Vancouver, Port Coquitlam

I've lived in Vancouver all my life and I've traveled a fair amount. Personally I think Vancouver is the best city in the world. Of course I'm a bit biased :P But it is a great city. It is incredibly multicultural, which can be a bit of a shock for people who come from very homogeneous city...

Re-applying for Working Holiday for second year in Canada

Hi, As far as I know the WH visa is definitely only a one time thing, you can't get it extended or apply for another (unless it's for another country). However, it may be possible to apply for a change in Status to a visitor visa. Also, since you are from a visa exempt country it is possible...

    Handwritten or Computer Filled?

I don't think it matters to be honest. Handwritten or typed or a combination there of is fine. As long as the hand writing is easy to read and not to cramped, and all the info is there, it shouldn't be a problem. And the forms don't need to be actually filled by your husband as long as he has...

    application to sponsor and undertaking

What they say in the guide is that if you chose to have the application sent back if you are ineligible to sponsor then you CAN NOT APPEAL. However, if you tick the box to continue with the application if you are found ineligible to sponsor the YOU CAN appeal the decision. So, in other words, if...
