Step 2 varies country by country. Applications processed in Hong Kong take only 12 months, while those in other places can take over 60 months. It is kind of unfair to people not from Hong Kong, but who said the process was fair :( http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-parents.asp

Interesting. I do hope that the applications for which the CC was charged made it to the 5000 quota. Would be good to hear from others who applied late, and had the applications returned.

In my opinion, get you documents ready... maybe you will be able to use them for next year. I feel that by the time march ends, the quota will be over, and if that is the case you will start hearing from people whose packages were returned without being opened. If SOMEHOW the quota is not gone...

True, but that article was from Jan 20, and by then if they already accepted 2000 applications (and based on the CC charge reports, they only looked at applications received by Januar 6th by that time!), unlikley that even with 50% acceptance it would take as long as Jan 15 or beyond to have...
