US vs. Canada.... Green Card vs. Citizenship, a weird request from judge!

Yes. I even asked the officer conducting the interview and about 5 call-centre agents: They all said that travelling or even working(!) outside of Canada does not affect the outcome of the citizenship process. You just have to watch that you notify CIC in case you are unavailable to attend one...

US vs. Canada.... Green Card vs. Citizenship, a weird request from judge!

Other applicants have reported that CIC seems to target people who hold an uncancelled work visa from other countries. There are several topics dealing with the cancelling procedure of visas from the middle east. This kind of thing seems to be more common, whereas the other is, I believe, unique...

US vs. Canada.... Green Card vs. Citizenship, a weird request from judge!

Until there are more confirmed cases, it's also possible that the applicant misunderstood the "judge". My interview after the test was held by a CIC Officer, not by a CIC judge. Hence, it might be that the "no intention to reside" in the US, is actually the CIC officer requesting that the...

    December 2013 Citizenship Applications

Hey, Scylla, was it a "full" RQ? I assume it was a post-test RQ, right?

Oil Field Jobless worker want to Go abroad on 28/28 rotation

I just confirmed the same thing with an officer on the phone, as I did in person: The main issue is that applicants don't maintain their PR status, or miss CIC communication by being abroad. For your friend, it's best to figure out how he can travel back to Canada for the test, if he gets the...

    September 2013 Citizenship Application

Hey AFMTl, when you had your test in July 2014, did they tell you whether your RQ had already been processed? I had my test in August 2014, with the RQ sitting right next to the officer. What's your local office?

    Urgent...Submission Office for Citizenship Application

The way CIC has changed things in Ontario might mean that the procedures in BC are also being changed. There is no use in entering any major inconvenience, because right now one office is a month ahead of another. This might change easily while your application is in process. In general it's...

    4 year relevant period RQ

It gave the specific date, which happened to be the date I entered Canada as a Permanent Resident. Although partly covering the 4 year period, they didn't request any documents from before. Right now the RQ is being processed at St. Clair and no decision has been made yet. Timeline: Applied...

    4 year relevant period RQ

The RQ I had received stated the relevant period on the first page. I entered as a PR in mid 2010, but since I'm a Feb 2014 applicant, my 4 year period started in Feb 2010. However, the RQ only asked me to provide documents that cover the timeline between my entry date and the day I applied (so...

    Applying with 1060 Physical Days

This is correct, for obtaining Canadian Citizenship, you will need to live in Canada. However, being married (and/or) living with a Canadian citizen for a certain period qualifies you to enter as a Permanent Residence.

[New UPDATE!!]TEST TOMORROW!advice and last minute check

Re: TEST TOMORROW!advice and last minute check Be sure to have the original documents you've provided with your application. When I went one guy couldn't finish his interview, as he didn't bring his health card, which he had included in his original application.

Cleared Citizenship Test but still waiting for RQ

I don't know what kind of RQ you got, but I think you probably have to wait a bit longer. I took the test in August in Kitchener and am still waiting for my RQ to be processed. The agent told me it takes several months, as the RQ is being processed at St. Clair.

    passport will be cancelled if

And this is exactly why the Intent to Reside Clause is being introduced. The trade-off between living in Canada and getting rich exists for many immigrants. Due to different standards, there is a gap between the status skilled workers had in their home country, and the status they will have in...

Working outside Canada when waiting on Citizenship

I was told that leaving Canada during the process is not an issue. However, be sure to be available to travel back for oath/test or notify CIC, so that they don't schedule you during the time you are not available to come back.

    Travel after applying citizenship

I left, but got RQed. As mentioned elsewhere, unless you move permanently to a foreign country, CIC is just concerned about your availability for test+oath. No-shows slow the process down for everyone involved.

Faster processing on the way after the new decision making model

Good news. I'm especially happy that a faster RQ processing time is mentioned. Although some applicants have been waiting for years and haven't received anything yet, it's a positive sign. It would be interesting to see the RQ rejection ratio, and whether this ratio has changed recently.

    RQ Questions

If you are waiting on stuff like health records, send all the documents you have before the deadline. Include a letter outlining on which docs you are still waiting, and send them as soon as you have them.

    RQ question

I was shown the envelope my RQ was in. In my case (Aug 2014), my local office was sending my RQ to St. Clair for assessment after the test. They told me no one had worked on it yet.
