    October 11th 2017 - Citizenship Applicants under 3/5 rule

This may be a dumb question, but.... the current application instructions has 2 addresses. 1 for regular mail, 1 by courier. What's a courier? Someone like me walking to the office? Or a company like FedEx? What is ExpressPost?

    Citizenship Applications after Bill C-6

Each day you are partially in the US counts as 1 day in the US for Police Certificates. So you will need to get one. (Assuming 5 days a week * 45 weeks = 225 days.)

How many "buffer" days will you have when you send in your citizenship application on Oct 11?

I hope so! We are exactly the people who got screwed over by C-24. My buffer will be about 300 days.

Finally got mine yesterday! Here is my timeline. Mailed (from US): 26 June. Credit Card charged: 13 September Package postmarked: 25 Sept Arrived in Canada: 4 October (Just in time for C-6 enactment!) Thank you everyone who posted their timelines; very helpful for me and relieved my worry.

    Careful days calculation

Yes it does. Because we were in the international section of the airport, we all had to pass through immigration (scanned our PR cards, etc) to get home again.

    Careful days calculation

I had an international (non-US) flight at 11pm which was cancelled. i.e. I went through security at 9:30pm, but then came back "into" Canada at 2am the next day. So no exit was recorded from Canada (is this correct?) but an entry was. I am expecting to have to explain that one in person...

I have a PR card for another country (not Canada). Is that a "travel document"?

    No. of absent days calculation

I used the online Physical Presence calculator and missed one of my trips. I added it to the end - now I have a random 2014 trip stuck at the end of a long list that is in date order. Do you think this will be a problem? The website won't let me sort according to date. :( And I do not want...

    FBI PCC

Forgive me if this has been explained before... but is there a good reason why they are falling further and further behind? i.e. Was there a reason for a flood of requests? And if so, do we have any hope of the flood of requests slowing so that they'll eventually catch up? (Mine was mailed...

Traveled to the US on my Nexus card for 2 days, but did not receive I-94. Is this a problem?

Inland only. The Calgary Nexus Office will be the correct place to go. Every time I have asked at the (land) Border to link it directly, I've been told that they don't have the capability there because it's not an official Nexus office.

Traveled to the US on my Nexus card for 2 days, but did not receive I-94. Is this a problem?

No. You always need to have an I-94. It can be electronic or paper. The important point is that your Nexus card has that I-94 number linked to it.

Traveled to the US on my Nexus card for 2 days, but did not receive I-94. Is this a problem?

When I talk about linking my I-94 I mean explicitly linked to my Nexus CARD. Yes, I know you only get a physical I-94 card when crossing by land and an electronic one when at an airport. Both ways you are assigned a NUMBER that will last for 3 or 6 months (depending on your visa status)...

Traveled to the US on my Nexus card for 2 days, but did not receive I-94. Is this a problem?

Mike053 - Looking online will not tell you if your I-94 is linked to your Nexus card or not. The only way to do that is in a Nexus office. (You don't need an appointment; just show up. It takes 5 minutes to link it!) Alpina740 - you crossed the border with an expired I-94? Yikes! Lucky you...

Traveled to the US on my Nexus card for 2 days, but did not receive I-94. Is this a problem?

The I-94 needs to be explicitly linked to your Nexus card; you have to go into a Nexus Office to do that. For your next trip in August, you CANNOT use the Nexus lane since your I-94 will have expired. You will need to go through the regular lane to get a new I-94. And then you have to go to a...

Traveled to the US on my Nexus card for 2 days, but did not receive I-94. Is this a problem?

But did you have a valid I-94 from a previous trip (i.e. one that was not yet expired)? If not, you could be in trouble. You are not supposed to use Nexus without a valid I-94 already linked to your Nexus card. Were you in a Nexus Lane? If yes, it's your fault. If no, it's the border guard's...

    Citizenship Applications after Bill C-6

Are referrals only in the case of not meeting Residency Requirements/Resumption of Citizenship, or is it for anything that is not-your-standard-application? For example, I already have citizenship in 2 other countries and travel frequently, but I do meet all of Canada's requirements (and have...

    police clearence for citzinship

I have decided that due to the uncertainty, I will just go ahead and get a police certificate for the USA. I often go down Friday at 9pm and return Sunday at 9pm - only 2 actual days out of Canada, but by the calendar that counts as 3 days. So 3 days * 1-2 times a month * 4 years definitely...

Police Certificate requirement for countries where an individual spent 6+ months

I have the same question. I'm either 160 or 190 days in another country depending on how you calculate. (I frequently take weekend trips across the border.)

    police clearence for citzinship

Hi! Long time reader, first-time poster. Does anyone know HOW to calculate the 183 days? I have been reading the CIC website but it doesn't help. If I leave Canada to go to the USA on Friday and return on Sunday, that currently counts as 2 days of absence from Canada. Does that count as 2...
