To all those submitting love letters and cards as proof of relationship

tell that to my super-sappy husband ;) he sends me a gushy postcard every week - despite the fact that we talk on the phone or on skype for, literally, hours every day. i envision the ladies who work in the post offices all gathered 'round, reading the cards and sighing and swooning.. hahahah...

    Landing (BC / ON)

alright, correction to my earlier comment (i'd called the Windsor border and spoken with a very friendly, but apparently incorrect, border guard) - not all land crossings handle immigration. however, i've just gotten off the phone with CBSA and a just-as-friendly-but-more-knowledgeable agent...

    Paper Size for forms

you, my friend, are really worrying too much over this ;) we all have something in our applications that we feel is going to be the reason we're rejected. here's mine: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/if-i-am-denied-as-sponsor-t329772.15.html if my application can...

    Paper Size for forms

i misunderstood your concern, too. still, the answer is no. CIC will not make any inferences based on the size of paper. if you're overly worried, include an explanation in your application about why you printed the forms for your wife, but i don't think it will be necessary.

    Landing (BC / ON)

you are able to land at any border crossing between the US and Canada. you can find a list of all the crossings here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Canada%E2%80%93United_States_border_crossings if you are 9 hours from Vancouver, it doesn't look like there are any land crossings any...

    Paper Size for forms

my husband is from the UK, where they use A4 as well, so we had the exact same issue - half the forms were done in A4 and half in letter size. our application was processed with no problem at all, and we have COPR in hand. you'll be fine :)

i think that's a smart decision, and glad you could get a refund on your original application! good luck with this one - hope it's quick and smooth for you :)

Thread for Outland LONDON, UK Applications!

that is crazy frustrating. i agree with you about the theory of pushing through new applications quickly and leaving older applications on the backburner - i speculated back when 2015 applicants were getting through in a matter of months that LVO was attempting to bring down the 'average...

    Immigration Barrier, please help!

again, unfortunately, those are not legal barriers to getting married, especially if she hasn't even attempted a TRV to come to Canada. i wish you both the best of luck with your conjugal application, but if i were you, that wouldn't be the first option i'd choose given the situation. make...

    Immigration Barrier, please help!

but you wouldn't have to *try* to marry her in Canada. you could just marry her in Canada. then you're married, and don't have to try to convince CIC to approve a conjugal application. is there a reason you have not applied for her to come to Canada as a visitor and get married here?

    spousal interview today

so from what i can see, your husband will need a visa, which means he will need to submit his passport to receive that visa before he can come to Canada. i don't know if the passport is normally taken at the time of the interview. the interviewer may have been referring to requesting the...

    Immigration Barrier, please help!

well, the harm with trying is the expense of an application that will likely be denied in this case.

    No wedding photos?

i was going to make this same suggestion. i think CIC sees a lot of variations in wedding ceremonies. i had recently moved to my city just before getting married, and so our wedding was attended only by our immediate families and my best friend since our other friends couldn't travel to it...

    Immigration Barrier, please help!

i could be wrong, but my understanding is that, when they speak of not being able to get married, it's because same-sex marriage is illegal in the person's country - not that their parents don't know or don't approve. and again, my understanding is that, since same-sex marriage is legal in...
