    US outland applicants' thread :)

My wife and I are going to a convention in Toronto (Mississauga?) on Memorial Day weekend (less than two weeks from now) and we really don't want anything to interfere with our border crossing. At the same time, I want to make sure this is done and set as soon as possible. The papers I received...

So i just got my CPR form...not the card? It clearly says "NOT FOR TRAVEL" across both forms. My concern is the expiration date says 2013/7/30. That's just over two months?! I thought we would have up to 180 days to move/declare? Or is this document what I use to get my actual CPR card and from...

I'm probably confusing this with something else then. I thought I heard that once I'm actually approved, we have X amount of time to move to Canada and avoid duty or something. I'm hoping we have until at least July/August to get our affairs in order and such.

So...this is it, this is the news we were waiting for I hope? We just need to send them 2 (more..) images?! :D Also, how long is the Visa/CoPR good for? I thought I hear 180 days/6 months? My wife and I obviously cannot move this week/month but we had originally planned to move around the end of...

So we received an e-mail about a month ago asking for "proof" that my wife was intending to come with me to Canada. We sen e-mails showing her applying for jobs and us looking for apartments as I mentioned in a previous post. I too got a "Decision Made" on April 16th. The supporting documents...

Right now we're waiting for my approval to [hopefully] go through. Our current plan is to save enough money for security + 1 month rent + 1 month utilities and then have her move to Toronto at the beginning of August. I'll remain in Buffalo for roughly 1-2 months (max) earning income while she...

Agreed. I mean, we're looking for an apartment (no intentions/capability to buy a house yet). My wife has been applying for jobs for the past 6 months, but without a Canadian address/phone, we feel she's missing out because of the distance. It just seems odd that they would want her to move...

I just received notification via e-CAS tracker. I checked my application status at cic and here's what it says: Here's my concern; my phone does not accept calls from Canada (StraightTalk). We do not have a home phone. Back in February we received an e-mail stating they needed more proof that...

My wife and I have been searching for apartments for the past...6 months? We have browser histories and e-mails between the two of us with links to various apartments and what they offer. She (Canadian) has been looking for work since September. I haven't since I can't legally work in Canada...

So I got the following lovely e-mail yesterday... My wife and I will be celebrating 10 years in October, which will also mark our 2 year anniversary for being married...not sure what more we can provide besides the documents we've provided.

Received my Police Certificate (no record) from the FBI 12/12. The processing date was 12/7, but still, I mailed it on 11/2, so I'm quite pleased with the turnaround time. 5 weeks essentially if you consider Thanksgiving (US). EDIT: I live in Buffalo just to give you an idea of transit time.

Sent out my FBI Police Certificate and the receipt for my Right to Permanent Residence fee last night. Fingers crossed we get approved by April.

Alright, so we e-mailed CIC about 6 weeks ago and asked if my authorized channeler for Police Certificate would be accepted and they said no. So we got my fingrerprints done, sent in, and received the official letter from the FBI this past week. How should I send this to Ottawa (where my file...

Received my Police Certificate (no record) from the FBI yesterday. The processing date was 12/7, but still, I mailed it on November 2nd, so I'm quite pleased with the turnaround time. 5 weeks essentially if you consider Thanksgiving (US). Now to save up that $490 PR fee and mail that out in the...

So I redid my fingerprints...let me just say that getting fingerprints done in Buffalo, NY is a JOKE! That said, I'm hoping to have these sent off by this weekend. Just need to find a stiff piece of cardboard to try and ensure the fingerprint card doesn't get bent.

I received a reply to an e-mail to the CIC regarding my channeler prints. No dice (they said no). Seeing as how I've already wasted $48 on digital finger prints, I'm just going to go to the local police station. It's $50, but I can go after work tomorrow and have my card out in the mail to the...

I went through a channeller as well...lame. I guess I'll have to make an appointment to get my fingerprints done locally. Apparently ONLY the sheriffs office in Buffalo can do that, even though they have at least five police departments for the 5 districts.

I keep seeing these PPR requests...what if I sent a photocopy of my passport with my application? I am still expecting CIC to reject my FBI letter since it was through a channeler (authorized mind you) but let's say I get past that. Will they still require I send another copy of my passport?

It took roughly 1.5 months for us to receive confirmation that we were received and in the system.

As of Friday my medical results were received. Not sure where to put that on my profile, already filled out the meds request and done part. Regardless, I feel like things are finally official.
