Thanks! So we will only fill out one copy but will fill in the information regarding my husbands parents, siblings, etc. For the sibling area if he has siblings that he is estranged from and we don't have their current address what do we do? His parents have been married/remarried multiple times...

    Form IMM5406E questions...

I'm confused by the directions on this form and don't find the information on the CIC website to be clarifying. I am sponsoring my husband and our newborn son. These are the instructions on the form: "The principal applicant, their spouse or common-law partner and all dependent children 18...

Proof that we will live in Canada and Source of Support Questions...

A notice of assessment is a Canadian document, no? If I haven't earned money in Canada I can't have one... If a notice of assessment proves income how would a savings account help? Wouldn't I be better off with my 2016 tax statements? I know I have to prove I will move to Canada, that is my...

Proof that we will live in Canada and Source of Support Questions...

Hi- I have two questions regarding supporting documentation that I need to provide to sponsor my husband and son (2.5 months) to come to Canada. Quick background, I was born in the US but am a citizen by descent. We all currently live in the US. Our plan is to move to Toronto pending...

Spouse/Child Sponsorship- should we get an Immigration Attorney? OVERWHELMED

I do understand that our situation is unusual... In the event that there are a couple years that I don't remember the address where I lived (or it was a college dorm) is it best to just lengthen the period of time I lived at the other addresses?

Spouse/Child Sponsorship- should we get an Immigration Attorney? OVERWHELMED

Seriously, list every place I have lived since birth? I will do it if it seems right it just seems so extreme (and to be honest, I don't remember all the addresses....).

Spouse/Child Sponsorship- should we get an Immigration Attorney? OVERWHELMED

Right-- but do I list every address I've ever lived at in the US (there must be at least 10-- all in New York, including a number of college dorms). Or should I list the address of the house I grew up in? Or where I currently live?

Spouse/Child Sponsorship- should we get an Immigration Attorney? OVERWHELMED

Thank you-- we found the list a Channelers and have set an appointment! Next question, a little confusion on the IMM 5540 (Sponsor Questionnaire), question 8, it asks if you've ever lived in any country other than Canada and if so to list the address(s): I've only ever lived in the United...

IMM 5540 have you resided in countries other then canada

I'm struggling with this same question as well. I've only ever lived in the United States. I'm 33 years old and have lived in at least 8 different apartments in the last 15 years (life in NYC!). Do they want every address I've ever lived in listed since birth even though they are all in the US?

Spouse/Child Sponsorship- should we get an Immigration Attorney? OVERWHELMED

Both of these replies are so helpful and reassuring. A few follow up questions/confirmations: 1) i was under the impression that citizenship by descent cannot be passed down-- is that incorrect? assuming I do need to sponsor the babe it sounds like it's better to wait until the baby is born...

Spouse/Child Sponsorship- should we get an Immigration Attorney? OVERWHELMED

The long and short of it: -I'm a Canadian Citizen by Descent, but have lived in the US my whole life and do currently. -My husband and I are expecting our first child in November and really want to make the move back to Toronto (where all of our family is) in about a year to raise our...

    Application to Sponsor- IMM1344 Question

On the top of pages 2-7 there is a box that asks for applicants name and DOB. Is the applicant the person applying to sponsor or the person applying to BE sponsored? I am a Canadian Citizen and will be sponsoring my husband and child on this application. I presumed that this box was for myself...

Canadian Citizen by Descent-- is my child a Canadian citizen?

I appreciate that- however, moving to Canada and quitting our jobs before the child is born is simply not an option. I'm in my third trimester and not about to upheave life/medical care/finances to have the baby in Canada. Sponsorship for PR is not that hard! And if my future grandchild wants...

Canadian Citizen by Descent-- is my child a Canadian citizen?

Thank you for the help. It seems with certainty that I will need to sponsor both the baby and my husband for PR. Will take care of getting the application all set now (including medical exam and police report) and that way when the babe is born all we need to do is really fill in name, DOB and a...

Sponsor spouse while residing in the US-- proof of intension to re-establish???

I've also posted this to the Immigration forum, but wanted to here as well as it sounds like this is a significant thing to figure out before submitting anything: My plan was to sponsor my husband for Permanent Residency and then take care of the paperwork for Proof of Citizenship for my little...

Canadian Citizen by Descent-- is my child a Canadian citizen?

My mother-- and all 4 grandparents-- are Canadian, however I was born and raised in the US. Last year I completed all of my paperwork and now have Proof of Citizenship. I am now pregnant with my first child and my husband (an American) and I are thinking seriously of moving to Toronto, where all...

Sponsor spouse while residing in the US-- proof of intension to re-establish???

We would be moving to Ontario (Toronto). So we should plan on starting the Sponsorship process as soon as he/she is born? It must be a PR Sponsorship and not a Proof of Citizenship since I am a citizen by descent?

Sponsor spouse while residing in the US-- proof of intension to re-establish???

I see-- I didn't realize that because my Citizenship wasn't by descent that it wouldn't be a Proof of Citizenship for my child but instead a Sponsorship situation... Is that correct? If I am a Citizen and my husband is a PR (for now) and we move there before our child's Sponsorship goes through...

Sponsor spouse while residing in the US-- proof of intension to re-establish???

I presume that he will become eligible to work upon landing and that he won't have to wait the months for the card? What actually happens when he lands? Is that a meeting or an interview type thing? As a secondary question, I'm pregnant now but our baby won't be born for another few months...

Sponsor spouse while residing in the US-- proof of intension to re-establish???

Thanks for the reply. So just to make sure I understand properly... -Approximately 6ish months after sending a complete application he should have PR status/approval -Once he has PR status that makes him eligible to work -In order to "activate" his PR status/aka "land" he will need to go to...
