Congrats! Just contact them and they should be able to extend the time for you to 60 days. Last year I saw some people getting extensions when they couldn't deliver passports due to reasons outside their control.

Do you have to file taxes even though you are a non-resident for tax purposes after landing? I.e you have landed and gone back to your home country and will move permanently after a year, would I still need to file taxes?

If I recall correctly Visa just has your name, DOB, issue date, date before which we have to enter, uci and some other numbers including your category.
