Mine is also similar. Background check in progress since March 17. I have ordered notes which will arrive by end of this month.

How dI'd you inquire status from CSIS

I asked them status after 6 months and got the same exact response. Does the additional verification means security screening for us ? I have not got my GCMS notes yet so can't be sure

Background check in process since 21 Mar 2017. Email from CPC says that they are doing some additional verifications so can't comment on estimated completion time for my file.

Is your file going through addtional security screening as well. I will receive my GCMS notes that will confirm whether mine is chosen for additional security screening or not?

By security screening, I meant the additional or detailed verifications. Certainly, it takes longer than the normal check. Mine background check has been in process for past 3 months.
