I got this link from CIC when asked what prohibition is: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizenship/become-eligibility.asp#criminal Scroll down until you get to the prohibitions section. It is part of the security clearances. But apparently takes a long time in some cases.

They just added 4 oath ceremonies in Ottawa on Thursday the 28th. My family didn't get any notification to attend and our status is still in process so I guess we're not part of the July ceremonies.

Has anyone had an oath in Ottawa or have had any movement in their application status? We took our test in February and we are still In Process. Absolutely no kids are allowed at the test and interview. They will actually not give you the test if you show up with kids. Make sure you have a plan b in place. Good luck!

We did ours at Commissionaires (https://www.commissionaires.ca/en/offices). They were fast, easy, and reasonably priced (around $50 and they take care of everything - taking the prints electronically and sending directly to CIC).

Same here. It was sent to St. Clair, although my home office is Ottawa. I think all fingerprint requests go to a central office which is located at St. Clair.

Hi everyone; I just read that the 2017 Family Sponsorship program is now closed (CIC is no longer accepting forms of interest to sponsor a parent this year). Does anyone know when they'll open it again? Where do they make those announcements? TIA.

It was sent to CIC 3 days after it was done. Commissionaires took the prints, sent to RCMP, and RCMP sent directly to CIC.

We had the exact same situation happen. It does increase the time of the application, but there is no rule by how much. We applied in December, did test in February, were asked for fingerprints for my wife in February, and we've been waiting for DM since then.
