I am in Ottawa and we have been asked to send FP to Scarborough office and later wrote our test at Ottawa. i was also surprised but seems its normal. I think background check is not staple with processing office.

For me and wife status is DM but for kids still in process, is it normal? Any thoughts

They may or may not ask you. Its depends if you bio matches with someone, they ask for FP to confirm identity.

I sent my FP on Oct 9 but still not updated by cic in the system as mentioned by interviewer after the test. Worried why it took so long to just update as i already checked with RCMP and they told me they sent with in couple of days of my submission (Oct 11). If IRCC would have got FP my case...

I got FP request via email attachment letter. My ECASE updated after one day I received the email. Just wait for about 5 days and also check junk mail.

Passes test both (me and wife) and are told to wait 1-2 months for Oath taking ceremony.

Some people get it and others don't. In my case only my wife got FP request and I didn't. So it depends. Don't worry, you are on track.

No read your original letter again, they must have mentioned that send us original copy, so fax would not work.

In Ontario they have an option to send it directly to cic or to you. If they send it you, just forward original copy to cic office mentioned in the letter.

FP request comes mostly because if your last name, DOb or any other bio-info have a match in their system. It is needed to clearly differentiate the identity. My wife got it last week and we did it next day. it is just a routine process in background check.
