Mine were requested January 9th and delivered January 11th. When I called CIC on Wednesday, they said they were working through photos as of January 1st. They didn't tell me the status of my photos because of that.

You should call them. If they are processing photos as of 01/01/2019 then they have to have an update about your application.

I just called 888-242-2100, select 1, 1, 3 which will ask you to enter your PR card application number (starts with R) and yeah of birth, you will hear a status (which is the same as my CIC shows), then they will ask if you still want to speak with a representative. I just called them the wait...

Is this something that CIC can verify? When I called them in January, they said they couldn't give me an update because they were processing photos as of beginning of December.

no nothing for me. Have been checking CIC account throughout the day and nothing. It does take longer to login not sure if it's a wifi issue or something is happening with my account.

Luckily it worked out for you. I had to refile two forms and pay for both which weren't cheap. And because the forms that were lost contained a stamp that the duplicate forms didn't, DMV refused to give me a state ID or driver's license without it. It was a big mess.

That's horrible! When I was in the US, USPS lost my adjustment of status paperwork that took really long time to replace. Hopefully we get an update soon. This wait is awful.. can't wait for it to be over.
