I think the standard advise in such a situation is to try and get employer's refusal in writing. This way you have proof you tried you best to get the reference in the required format.

Why would you want to do that? It is a medical test not a morality exam. It makes you pee a lot, thereby 'flushing' your system. NOTE: the above is my poor attempt at wordplay, please don't take it as medical advise. Alcohol cannot be removed from the system in this way.

I got a reply to my email.. yes in bold and red! So no way of getting things expedited it seems.

I have to join a course and if I am unable to fly on 26th I wont be able to join. I had already provided the details of the course in the visa application. Would this be a good enough reason for them to expedite my application? Or does 'critical emergency' only cover health grounds?

I applied on 25th thinking I would get the visa in 7-10 days. Clearly I was mistaken according to this thread. I have flights booked for 26th.. is there anyway I can highlight this to ensure I get visa in time?

If your employment reference letter mentions your salary then there is no reason to provide any additional proof or LOE.

I got a very similar response to above today. My job responsibilities overlap three different NOC codes so I sent them the responsibilies as per my reference letter. Got a response which basically boils down to - 'please figure this out on your own'
