There is something called implied status. I'm not too sure if you need to apply for visitor visa. But the waiting time for PNP is pretty long, I think the consultant chose the safety path for you, and if you are under Visitor Visa, no you can't work. If the federal government figured it out...

As far as I'm aware of, you wont be able to apply an open work permit. You need your former employer to inform BC PNP office, and your new employer willing to sponsor you as well and continue become your sponsor for your BC PNP.

Did you get your AOR before it mailed back to you? Try to talk to the PNP office in you province, walk in there. Tell them that you need to meet the adviser, then explain your situation. They should be able to help you to extend your nomination certificate and also help you to issue Work Permit...

My Student visa is going to expire soon. I'm awaiting for Work Permit Support Letter from PNP. Then planning to do flag polling at Point Roberts, to change to Work Permit.
