TRV is Temporary Resident Visa. Visa gives you the ability to *enter* Canada. Visitor Record, Work Permit, and Study Permit are permits, not visas. They give you the ability to *remain* in Canada, and they set the restrictions on your activities while in Canada.

Hi, If my spouse applies for a study permit to he can start going to university while he currently holds the spousal OWP, will it invalidate the OWP? Or can he hold an OWP and a valid study permit simultaneously? I couldn't find info on the IRCC website. Thank-you.

You can likely get that restriction removed if you call and ask, and submit a medical. I believe it’s there because there is no medical required for the OWP.

You are fine, on implied status. My partner is in similar situation. We are still waiting for OWP but IRCC said once it was submitted it created implied status, until a decision is made. If a negative decision is made for some reason you can get restoration.
