PR residency requirement and border control

Thanks canuck, so if I understand you correctly, they couldn't even report a person for investigation, given that its been less than 3 years anyway? What could they investigate?

PR residency requirement and border control

It would be a buffer of 3.5 months, I know the earlier the most ideal. I'd like to occasionally visit the U.S. too, but now it's down to only leaving the option open for "emergencies". Unfortunately, life happens

PR residency requirement and border control

Thanks for the link, zardoz. Glad that kind of practice is at least not mentioned as a routine for the examination officers.

Zardoz, thanks, can you elaborate? How can we know for sure?

PR residency requirement and border control

Hi, As a PR there are residency requirements as we all know. If moving to Canada close to the "deadline" for meeting residency requirements (i.e. for the first time after 2.5 or 3 years) might border control be tough on a permanent resident and potentially even revoke someone's PR just because...

Cleanliness of water/lakes etc. in the Ontario region

Thanks for the link, I'll definitely have a look. Not really a bus-tour kind of person either but I enjoy meeting new people so why not. Although worried it might be more expensive than just going on my own. Thanks guys for all your advice and perspectives

Cleanliness of water/lakes etc. in the Ontario region

Thanks you are right, there is a Via Rail and seem to take just two hours. Kingston with its surrounding waters looks stunning. But even there, it's just looking no touching the waters right?

Cleanliness of water/lakes etc. in the Ontario region

Thanks for the tip. I don't look forward to asking my new Canadian friend "so do you have a car? Can you drive me to ___ and ___ and ___?" Or perhaps it is a more open culture towards "car pooling" than in Europe.

Cleanliness of water/lakes etc. in the Ontario region

Yeah I wouldn't even know how to even get there by public transportation? Maybe from Montreal there would be some options. Just getting to somewhere like Kingston with a bus with Greyhound seem to take 10 hours.

    Resigning versus termination of job

Does your employer have a collective agreement? Also, if you wait it out and don't quit on your own, do you think your employer might fire you for "just cause"? If the latter is possible, then wouldn't this also be a reason for IE claim to be refused? (in addition to the complications when...

Cleanliness of water/lakes etc. in the Ontario region

Ah you mean the James Bay on Hudson Bay? Apparently there is another James Bay also by Georgian Bay. I read somewhere that the Hudson Bay is like subpolar-continental with temperatures as low as -60 in the winter, without public roads. Is James Bay an accessible place even by car?

Cleanliness of water/lakes etc. in the Ontario region

Smaller lakes always look more sketchy to me, like the still-standing waters and lack of space make them sick with bacterias and algaes more easily. Does anyone have any experience with Parkbus or First student Canada bus lines in the summer? I heard they are going to nature-destinations like...

Hey steaky, How is James Bay on the ocean, isn't it on Lake Huron?

Cleanliness of water/lakes etc. in the Ontario region

I gotta admit that when looking more closely at a map I'm realizing just how many lakes that must be existing nearby Toronto or at least in the Ontario region. So I guess one of the only and hardest pill to swallow is to get used to lakes rather than the ocean but as I mentioned earlier, Lake...
