On passport request(post ITA and application submission), if you don't belong to visa exempt country, then you need to send original passport to CIC office. It will take around 15days to come back.

Did anyone tried to reach CIC call center? At least, in EE after decision made line comes up, things move pretty fast.

You may call them and find out what is happening on your application. When I called, I was informed they can answer the queries for application after 14 weeks of submission. So you may hear something from them.
