Well holy smoke I just got my email. "We are pleased to advise that you have met the requirements for eligibility as a sponsor. Accordingly the undertaking and the Application for Permanent Residence have been forwarded to the Visa Office in TOKYO for further processing."

These are the stories that make me nervous. How did you discover that the first application was lost?

Yup! But I'll call again in two weeks if I haven't heard anything. I really don't want to be waiting only because they tossed my application under a fling cabinet. (>_<)

I'm still getting nothing in the online lookup. So I called the call centre. They told me they couldn't give me any update because they haven't opened my envelope yet. "It says on the website that we're working on applications received March 28" was all she'd give me. Fifteen minutes on hold for...

Doesn't look like anyone's received an email. Maybe CIC staff don't "do Fridays".

Inland! You'll need the most patience of all of us. がんばって下さい!

I was doing the same, but it sounds like they don't activate the online status update until after you've already received the email. @gwalyat, keep up the good work with the matrix. ;)

Congrats emcanada and katehughes! Still no word on ours. It'll be a month tomorrow.

Great to hear that they've adopted the practice of using email. Also nice to hear that I have a rough idea of how long the wait will be. Thanks for posting.

Good luck to you both! My wife and I are putting a second child on hold until she's got health coverage (this exercise reveals a weakness in forbidding private health coverage in this country) so I really hope this application goes smoothly. For us, as for everybody here. ;^)

That's very helpful. I started down the road of an inland application (until advised not to by this forum's denizens) and it seems I've carried a fair bit of inland information with me, mentally. Thanks so much!

44 days, now. Hmmph. The entire time I was working on my application (from January) it remained 38 whenever I happened to look. But to your point (as I understand it) I wouldn't get too upset if you don't hear anything in eight days. Or on any other date in particular. Just because they're now...

The guidance on the CIC website says that the first portion takes 38 days, as noted above. After that, your application will be sent on to the outland visa office. You should receive some notification at that time. One question I've got for everybody: Is that letter the "approval in principle"...

Amen! It's habit forming.... And amen to that, too. I was rather hoping that the online status lookup would give me some glimmer of hope (all I have is the receipt number) but from the 7th (when they received my application according to Canada Post) until today, no luck. But I suppose it's...

    Remember to vote for liberals

Sadly, it's so on all points. I have to say that it's a bit of a relief that the NDP are taking interest away from the Bloc. Having one party operating in only one province is bad for the country, especially when that party is separatist.

Does this apply to you? More Regulatory Changes to Help Prevent Marriage Fraud

It is complicated, but again I'd add that the paperwork route hardly gives a clear view of a couple's nature. P.S. I find your texting-style b/r/u/ur's charming but they make me feel old. 8^D

The only innovation in this respect that we've seen from the current government is to extend health care to GM & Chrysler. :^P

Does this apply to you? More Regulatory Changes to Help Prevent Marriage Fraud

Very good points, here. Some of us are forced to be apart, some are forced to sideline an in-country spouse, many of us seem to have issues surrounding pregnancies and children.... Perhaps what I'm grasping at is the need for more flexibility in the system. I'm convinced that for those with a...
