Looks like CIC are really clamping down on PRTD's

It seems to be the case. Although I find it interesting that they still use the word 'may' rather than saying you 'will' be denied boarding. Still leaves it open for interpretation.

Flying Mumbai to Vancouver, question about carrying funds in cash

I feel your pain, I'm assuming you'd like to avoid the case where the Indian authorities are questions why you have so much cash. I know in the UK you need to declare is and just let them know what it's for an where it comes from. I'm also assuming that you're slightly concerned that it may be...

Looks like CIC are really clamping down on PRTD's

I got this email over the weekend: Hello, Our records show that you may be a permanent resident (PR) of Canada. This email is a reminder that you must present your valid Permanent Resident Card (PR Card) or permanent resident travel document (PRTD) when boarding a flight to Canada. Canadian...

Permanent Resident - Driving Abroad (UK)

In reality looks like I'll have to give up my UK one then as my HK licence doesn't automatically transfer to BC license. So at least I can keep my HK one. Is it not possible to then apply for the UK again directly with the UK?

Flying Mumbai to Vancouver, question about carrying funds in cash

I think the OP is more concerned about what will happen to him in Mumbai rather than Canada, is that right?

Permanent Resident - Driving Abroad (UK)

Really? Is this because Canada make you hand in your licence when you apply? I have a valid UK license and a HK one and can use them as I want depending on where I go in the world

Another URGENT do I need a travel document or not post?!?

This would be an option I agree, I have to admit I always found it strange that I didn't go through immigration when I left Canada. Also found it very strange when I applied for my PRTD that it was up to me to account for the days I'd spent in and out of Canada. One would assume that the...

Another URGENT do I need a travel document or not post?!?

This is a valid point and I agree, I imagine as they move on they will find a simpler way of processing the PRTD and speedier. Already, I understand that multiple entry PRTD's have been granted to ensure that the same people don't have to apply over and over again

Another URGENT do I need a travel document or not post?!?

It's a good question from the OP, I understand why it's not possible to board a plane without the PRTD but some would argue as to why a PRTD is required in the first place. Is it just another way to earn some cash by making people get them or a good way of stopping people with invalid PR's...

    Car Insurance

I used a HK driving license no issues at all to hire a car, the HK license is in English anyway so no problems. I don't have an international driving license. the bigger issue is that looking at the ICBC website there is no reciprocal agreement between HK and Canada for driving licenses
