Finally got my FBI clearance after 4 weeks

I guess I missed the 3 month expiration date. I received mine in late June and was planning on sending my app in early October. Now I have to do it again? What a bummer.

    Convoluted tax question (common-law)

My divorce took 17 months so I feel your pain. We filed married separately during that time (two tax years). In doing so he lost out on a $2,000 education credit (his choice) but it was worth paying taxes to not deal with each other. I would file separately.

Spousal PR - Proof of wedding?

I totally understand your feelings of just wanting it to be the two of you. Here's our story on why ours was just the two of us. We just got married a few weeks ago and it was just the two of us but we have what I consider good reason. While we were in the early stages of planning our wedding...

Visiting Canada for 3 Months (from USA). Proof required?

Hi! My understanding is all he needs to show is proof of ties in the US. This could be a lease agreement, bills in his name, a letter from his employer stating it's a 3 month vacation, proof that he paid for university that starts in the fall, etc. I don't think bank statements matter, I just...

Form B4 (Goods to Follow/Accompanying List): How to ???

It asks for the value in Canadian Dollars. Is this what the value of the product is now or when it was new? For example, I bought a shirt for $30US, but if I sold it now I could get maybe $3 for it. Another example, paid $900 for my sofa, value if I sold it on Craigslist I could get maybe...

Married when met sponsor, will this look bad?

Thank you all. I think we have a strong case of evidence to show our relationship is genuine: - 24 visits to see each other in last 19 months (airfare from $500-$850 a trip shows the large financial investment we've made in the relationship) - We will have letters from: my parents, his parents...

Married when met sponsor, will this look bad?

My Canadian fiancé and I (American) met at a work function while I was going through a tough time in my previous marriage. The next month my ex and I separated (I moved across the country), during that time my fiancé and I emailed and chatted (as friends, mostly about my separation but it was...

    Documents, spousal sponsorship

Occasita is right, I am going to apply outland and visit my husband for 6 months, when that is up, if I do not have PR then I will apply for an extension. From what I've read on the forum it's a fairly easy process.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

That's a great idea!! I travel there at least once a month, sometimes twice. If I was going for a week or so I would definitely try that, but I typically go Friday night - Sunday evening which gives us 42 hours of time together. there aren't any nonstop flights to Buffalo from here, plus I...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Sure, you can call me that! I feel you on the flights! From Houston to Toronto it's usually $725, a year ago it was $505!! I try and get weekend deals through United for $404 (and we act like this is a deal!!) but our time is so limited because I don't get in until Sat afternoon and fly out...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

As OhCanadiana said, usually round trip tickets are cheaper than one way. If I were you I'd purchase a round ticket because it looks like you do have intent to come back to the US. I plan to drive in (from Houston to Ontario) with my husband and show a copy of my lease at my brother's house...

    Fingerprint Cards U.S.

Hi Cheerio, I printed the fingerprint form off the FBI website on card stock and went to my local police department to get printed (cost $10). I sent in two cards just in case. I would use the FBI's form because you know they won't deny it.
