If the borders remain closed, I expect this may be expanded.

Traveling on visit visa and later changing/converting to ICT work permit

You no longer have to leave Canada to activate a work permit. https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/news/2020/08/new-temporary-public-policy-will-allow-visitors-to-apply-for-a-work-permit-without-having-to-leave-canada.html

Passport Expiring At End of Year, PR application still in review due to biometrics office closures

Don't worry about biometrics "Your application won’t be refused or closed if you can’t give your biometrics due to COVID-19 service disruptions." https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/biometrics.html The passport stuff I don't know.

Spousal Sponsorship USA to Canada questions!

I applied Outland common-law, but what I've seen of the inland app is that you apply for the Open Work Permit at the same time as the PR app. It doesn't require a job offer, it's kind of an inland application perk. :) But yeah if they return it, if anything is incomplete/incorrect, you lose...

    Flags? Education, Marriages, Children...

I have a Masters and my fiancé has a high school diploma. I've never married, he's twice divorced. I have no children, he has 2. I'm an hispanic American, he's a white Canadian. We met online Summer 2017, in person Summer 2018, moved in together beginning of 2019, and applied under...

Spousal Sponsorship USA to Canada questions!

Under normal circumstances applications were taking at least 12 months, there are various threads and google tracker spreadsheets that show this if you look. Now with Covid, who knows. You're lucky if they even say they've received your application within 4 months. You need police certificates...

    February 2020 Spousal sponsorship Outland

Here's an odd one. I took my medical in June, received an e-mail today from the IRCC webform that my medical was received and sent to the correct person, but nothing has changed anywhere else, and they didn't say passed or not.

Visitor record: reason for needing extension

Hi, when we did visitor extensions we said we were trying to be common-law and it was fine. Just had to prove we had the finances to cover 1 of us not working for that time frame.

New travel exemption for immediate family member not being honoured or implemented by OUTCAN visa offices

But it's not. :/ Have you seen the show 90 Day Fiancé and its spinoff, The Other Way where Americans try to move to other countries? Some go the spousal route and still can't get their spouse to the US etc in a timely fashion. When you fall for someone in a different country it seems to...

New travel exemption for immediate family member not being honoured or implemented by OUTCAN visa offices

Actually Nova Scotia has 1,065 positives, 63 deaths, four active cases and 998 cases of #COVID19 resolved. Even before the pandemic these things took time. It is understandable that it's even slower now. A lot of unions have been very concerned with the health of their workers and many places...

    Notarized Documents for Common Law

If you can make a joint account, do so. His account had credit cards attached and he got me one with my name on it, so we showed that info. They'll need the Canadian's tax information to make sure you can be supported. If you sent each other any money back and forth, or PayPal etc., show that.

    Notarized Documents for Common Law

I did a common-law application, no lawyers or cohabitation agreement, didn't notarize, no affidavits. Just had friends and family & building person sign their letters. Application was accepted as complete in February. *crosses fingers* :)

Inland spousal sponsorship, health insurance options/pregnacy, biometrics for open work permit approval

I'm a common-law applicant and I went to a walk-in clinic with my American birth control pills and said I had no health insurance and needed refills. Paid out of pocket for the visit, bloodwork, and prescriptions in Ontario. Fairly reasonably priced.
