Export + Import of Vehicle (AES, Queenston-Lewiston)

So, I took the plunge and exported/imported our car. Overall...easy. BUT that's only because I was prepared, did my homework, kept my cool, etc. Exporting. I had someone upload my vehicle information into AES Direct to generate an ITN for me. This cost me $65USD and, as I've said, it's worth...

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

Can I ask what OHIP office folks are going to? I went to the corporate one in Hamilton (downtown) and holy crap, I was treated like a scammer the first time I went in there and was denied AND the second time I went in there and had my eligibility date "plucked" from my Form B4 instead of the...

    Vehicle Export/Import/AES

No. Learning AES is a waste of time. I had a company do it for me. Cost me $65 and saved about $1,000 in headache. I've posted a link to their site one time in another thread. Don't want to sound like I'm pushing their services...I'm more pushing NOT learning the AES Direct system.

Need advice on RIV/Transport Canada issue

This is the company I used. I just exported-imported my car today. http://www.aa-auto.com/ The company worked out fine. Was about $65. Best part? I didn't have to learn AES Direct AT ALL. Worth. Every. Penny. I'll try to post a new thread with my export-import experience.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I was quoted an SA timeframe of 89 days by a CIC officer when I called today. Probably not what any of us wants to hear, but always good to know.

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

Thanks for your reply. She was in Canada Dec 18 - Jan 26 and left for 4 days to be in the U.S. to help me pack. We crossed back into Canada on Jan 30 - when we got the Visitor Record for her. I'm going to try and use Dec 18 as her first day in Ontario with the understanding that CIC may...

Important OHIP eligibility info for all PR applicants residing in Ontario

What if the sponsored spouse did NOT take up residency in Canada until after that date? For example, if my spouse was deemed eligible to be sponsored on December 15th 2015, but was not IN Canada as a visitor until after that date....would her coverage date be 90 days after the most recent date...

Done. Drove up to the border at Queenston-Lewiston (use the RV lane if you have a moving truck) with wifey in our car behind me. Explained to the border officer what we were doing and I was asked the typical questions for anybody who crosses under normal circumstances. I admitted I had a palm...

    US outland applicants' thread :)

Oh I know the confusion originates from the U.S. side (CBP) and the distinct differences between export (CPB) + import (CBSA). Sorry if my last few lines confused that. I was just pointing out that CBSA doesn't really care if the car comes and goes while it's on a list of goods to follow...

    DECEMBER 2014 - OUTLAND Applicants

Added my info to the spreadsheet. Looks like I've got the most days under my belt as I got mine to CIC on Dec 1. (That's only because I sent the box (yes, it was a box about the size of a ream of paper) from near Mississauga. I'll try and chime in if I hear anything about my application, good...

Importing Your US Vehicle to Canada....con't Been reading a few threads here about the email CBP sends you after submitting your vehicle info to them for export. Specifically, the line that says: "Vehicles for export may not be brought to Canada prior to being formally exported by U.S. Customs...

More about importing your used vehicle to Canada... So, I'm putting together my B4 + Goods to Follow and it came to the part where I have to place a value on my vehicle for export from the U.S. into Canada. During my research, I came across a CBSA memo (Memorandum D13-10-2) from April of last...

Until the Saudis get a new prince, apparently. I should clarify - I'm not quite in Canada yet. We're on the cusp... Q1: I supply one to those who ask. Typically, if I do over a certain amount of work, they ask. I think there IS a threshold that if you pay a contractor a certain amount (I...

Yes. I have U.S. clients whose U.S. dollars I will gladly accept into my Canadian bank account at today's exchange rate. I also have overseas clients who pay me in U.S. dollars. Oh, and even my Canadian clients pay me in U.S. dollars.

Yes. Get an EIN. I have two...maybe four or more...check the limits on the number of EINs you can request in a DAY and you'll realize getting one is no big deal. There must be people thing hundreds of them based on the daily limits. Now, I don't know about the idea of FedEx helping out with...

I'm about to do this in 11 days. Will be driving a moving truck across the border while wifey drives the family car with a suitcase in the back. We still have ties to the U.S. - bank account, house, investments, etc - but I'm moving 99% of our things to make life a little simpler and she's...

Question about change of address from USA to Canada. Preamble: Why does it feel like nothing about moving across the border is 'clear cut'? Anyway... Sent our packet to Mississauga (I'm sponsoring my U.S. wife) in early December. She's with my parents "visiting" Canada right now with our son...

Need advice on RIV/Transport Canada issue

I'm not endorsing them either, only because I haven't yet used them - and may not have the chance. However they came highly recommended to me. On a side note, if you have a vehicle with a recall for which there is no remedy - BE VERY CAUTIOUS. There are NO exceptions in the RIV process for...

Don't do it!! That's how it goes! I found a company that will enter my car into AES for $60USD. I don't know if the forum has any rules about posting/suggesting external sites, etc....so if anybody wants the info about the company that will do it for $60 (a steal considering the time involved to...
