This is completely normal. Most people wait 45-60 ish days before they get their first correspondence with the CIC. Their goal is to have 80% of applications processed within 12 months. Some countries and some straight forward cases are being seen to be processed in as little as 5-8 months...

It says "You must provide a police certificate for every country, region or territory, other than Canada, in which you have spent 6 months or more." So no you don't need to provide one for Canada.

Yes I uploaded them in the online portal. The request showed up right after we received AOR1. At the bottom of the page there is a 'view submitted application' button. If you click that you will see if they are waiting for you to upload any documents or to pay any missing fees.
