Macchiato even if you have a 5 month gap , you have a total of 12 months of living together, i think you qualify for sponsorship under common law.. but "veteran" users surely know more about the subject. ;)

well people can get TRV's without invitation letters, not everyone is going to Canada to visit friends/family. you can write a letter as a "friend" but it doesn't seem very reliable, i don't know.. she can say she's just traveling, but alone.. ? if she's traveling she needs to have a return...

i hope she'll accept, good luck to you! :) as for the visitor visa.. there are slim chances if her husband/boyfriend lives in Canada, the VO will consider you as her strongest family tie. if she has a stable job here, a house, family and all that maybe it could work.. wouldn't bet on it...

computergeek i also read somewhere around here about people that never got notifications via e-mail from CIC - mainly because their e-mail was mispelled.. what do you think should be done in this case?
