Confusion about documents that are in other languages

hello ;D i am not sure what to interpret from the guide. they say that for documents in other languages, you need: so a notarized translation + a certified copy? is that good? i read somewhere else that you should submit the notarized translation + a simple photocopy. what's the right answer...

Creating a spousal sponsorship guide/FAQ that is stickied to the top

i agree with truesmile, reading the guide carefully clarifies a lot already.. and the rest - you can search the exact info you need or post your question in the first thread (that is sticky already) or create another thread - i always got prompt answers. this forum never fails to provide me the...

    Spousal sponsorship

im my opinion you should put the date 13 years ago because that's when you met the first time - doesn't matter that you didn't start dating back then. i guess you should also tell them that you lost contact too. better to mention everything than lie or "not mention" certain things.

Foreign marriage certificate - any registering necessary in Canada?

oh seriously? i never thought they actually ask for originals. not very safe in my opinion .. i obviously only checked the specific doc checklist for eastern europe.. and the only original i need to give is the police certificate (which i find acceptable). anyway, i wish you good luck with your...

Foreign marriage certificate - any registering necessary in Canada?

huh?! since when? i'm pretty sure they mention in the guide & checklist & everywhere that i need to submit 1 notarized copy + 1 legalized translation of any foreign documents (in a language other than english/french) maybe more experienced users can tell more about it. i'm pretty sure i don't...

Anyone want to join a thread for people applying in the near future?

oh damn that's just bad... thank god i found this forum from the beginning. i also heard loads of bad stories about immigration lawyers.. i don't think it's a general rule obviously but they squeeze the money out of you and give bad advice.. i read a story here about someone that had a spouse...

Foreign marriage certificate - any registering necessary in Canada?

thanks for the quick answer! yeah i thought that too, wanted to be sure.. problem is my husband is from Quebec and seems like you CAN register your foreign marriage but they ask for original birth certificates and such. frankly i don't feel like giving any originals to a foreign authority...

Foreign marriage certificate - any registering necessary in Canada?

hello! we have married in Europe and we wonder if my husband needs to do something when he arrives back in Canada (before submitting our app). i know he needs to update his status to 'married' with CRA. Is that it? I'm just wondering if the certificate is valid there too. i read on their site...

Anyone want to join a thread for people applying in the near future?

i definitely agree with the "quality over quantity" thing. We don't plan on submitting 100 wedding pictures or such. Also, pokerface pictures are a nono!! Thank god we're not that type in photos :D But as i said, if you have a 3-4-5 year old relationship you're able to show them a few photos...

Anyone want to join a thread for people applying in the near future?

just a record of the calls? i think it depends where you're coming from too - i'm from Eastern Europe - i guess they demand a lot of proof. also, our relationship is pretty "young" (we know eachother since december 2012) so i guess we need to submit more. no children no nothing. everything went...

i definitely agree with you. Regarding this, how did you attach the photos? in the form IMM 5490 (spouse partner questionnaire) they keep asking for photos at several questions (development of relationship, marriage, honeymoon etc.) .. did you attach them with the form (printed them on a...

Anyone want to join a thread for people applying in the near future?

yeah MaxLet i was thinking the same thing but i feel better asking than wondering after if i made a mistake. i have another one already :-[ IMM 5406 (additional family info) .. first section: they ask me to provide data about me, my spouse (if applicable), mother & father.. now if my husband...

Quebec applicants - no option C printout & proof of employment?!

i also have another question :) in the form IMM 1344 (Application to sponsor, sponsorship agreement and undertaking) - in the section "sponsor eligibility assessment" they say that sponsors who reside in Quebec "need not to complete questions 8, 9, 10 or 15". that means my husband leaves them...

Quebec applicants - no option C printout & proof of employment?!

Hello all :) on the document checklist, at the sponsor's documents, they say to "skip to nr. 21 if you're a Quebec resident" .. so no tax documents & proof of employment and so on? or we submit them later ? has anyone any experience with this? in hope of getting a response i also wish you...
