Yes you can do your medicals before CIC asks you to do it. Just go to a panel physician and say you want to do the exam upfront and give them your file info.

The federal skilled worker class no longer has a separate stream for PhD students/graduands. However, three options are open to them. I would recommend pursuing the first two, concurrently: 1. Apply to the federal skilled worker class via the new system (called "Express Entry") if you meet the...

Yep, someone I know got the email for medicals and right of pr fee today. Their file had reached Sydney on Oct 20 and was in the phd category. But don't panic; other people from early September are still waiting.

Yes, the visa office (and not the CIO) may ask for additional documents at any point, before or after medical examinations. In your case, since you have not sent your police clearance, they will ask for it for sure, once they select you as a member of the federal skilled worker class (i.e. you...

If your ecas shows "in process" it means your application has been deemed eligible for processing (no refund of processing fee is possible after this point). The next step is the "in detail" review by CIO and once you pass that step, you will receive the "PER email" and your file will be...

That doesn't show you anything that concerns CPC-Ottawa. Also, note that the entry numbers are in the order of creation, meaning that an assessment that is numbered 2 precedes the assessment number 1. (similarly Note 4 is created before Note 3, and so forth.)

I'd say don't bother yourself and don't worry at all. There's no point in looking at CIO's assessment because the visa office will throw it away and carry out their own assessment anyways. The only thing that matters is whether the processing agents at CIO have placed your file into processing...

I don't think CIC did anything wrong in this case. There was an obvious note on their stats webpage stating that those numbers were only provided as a guide and they wouldn't guarantee that if someone sends their file right away, it would get in for certain.

CPC-O is a busy office. I'd probably send the files electronically and mail hard copies too.

You could book your trip if your previous visa vignette is still valid. Just show the airline agents you have a valid visa (and they have no clue your status has changed) and once you're back at Pearson, present your IMM5292. The CBSA officers won't turn you back just because your plastic card...

they only want the RCMP record. they have accepted your police certificate from your country of citizenship if you have already submitted one. The other user has not read your post carefully and therefore is giving misleading information. good luck

Well, but CPC-O has been working a lot faster than before, and that doesn't necessarily mean they've increased the workforce based on their general strategy of re-configuration of the visa offices (whether inland or abroad) in the past three years. An increase in the error rate, I suppose, is...

:) of course they'd allow you to come in... you had a valid visa! There is no formal requirement that holders of work/study permit should carry the document when they travel...

In Canada, it's never illegal to staple something in your passport, and the reason some CBSA officers do it for foreign workers or students is to make sure it won't get lost. However, if I were to mail my passport to CIC, and I had a study permit in it, I'd certainly detach the permit. If it...
