I don't think so that with a DM you can walk in. You have to wait and receive a letter from montreal immigration , which basically will ask you to call or will have an appointment date. It's that letter from montreal immigration, you cann use for a walk in. I am also waiting for the same...

In my opinion they go through the file and your hearing to come to a decision and also remember there is a lot of pile up ..so sometimes depending on the judge ,it may take longer . Wish you all the best. I got my decision at the end of hearing , as I am a legacy applicant and the judge saw it...

I am not a lawyer , but logically speaking I would change my lawyer and send an appeal to the refugee Dept. In the US . If you have strong evidence than you should have no issues going through the claim in the states. Your situation in Canada won't change because you will be in a time lag here...

I suggest you speak to a good lawyer. You said you have chances of a green card..given the fact that united states and Canada exchange information so you will pop us as a refugee claimant even in the United States..would that effect you green card application? That is something a lawyer can...

If your claim is successful then the background checks starts ..prior to that I don't think so. And if after succesful claim home country comes to know..it does not matter ,does it :)
