One wild guess would be individual officer at Sydney CPC dedicated to applications received from each province. Maybe the officer for Alberta is the quickest or probably not swamped with applications as all other provinces...

If you are travelling or plan to travel in next 4-5 months, you can renew your passport and send the new passport info to CIC after receipt of AOR. Else, it is not required in my view. Having new passport does not delay your application, but not disclosing your new passport information can...

Nope. ECAs not yet active...I believe it will take a couple of days...

16th November 2018...I myself am surprised...I didn't opt fast processing either....maybe good news for all November applicants soon
