CIC uses GCMS system to process all applications. By requesting these notes you will be able to see what has been processed on your file so far (such as Background check, Security check, Medical etc) and what items are still pending.
Have you applied for GCMS notes yet? Maybe send an email to the Immigration Ministers office as well. It doesn't hurt. Not sure what the outcome will be but at least they will know how families are being kept apart under this ridiculous sponsorship program.
