    Tell her not to worry. My sisters and I had the same situation when we were being sponsored by our father. A letter of explanation and the required documents will do. It will be over in no time.

    Mailing address: Canadian High Commission P.O. Box 1500 Kingston 10 Jamaica I know that they specifically ask for a DHL envelope for the return of the passport so if you are going to send it by courier then I suggest you use DHL. Im not sure about the fees but I'd say about $2000 one way...

    http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp Says here on the CIC's website that it's taking an average of about 63 days. And it's pretty accurate. It recently took about 60 days after landing for a friend of mine to get his in the mail.
