    transit visa for the usa?

I've never had one as I'm from a visa exempt country, but the department of state website has some good info: http://travel.state.gov/visa/temp/types/types_4383.html Not sure whether you'd need to wait for your COPR - might depend on what the waiting time is for the interview at the consulate...

    Love or Opportunity? Coffee Social

Congratulations on landing and welcome to the best side of the border! ;) Re the US self deportation, you can always get an inadmissibility waiver to be allowed to travel back to the US as a visitor. Just wait a couple of years and establish good ties here. And you have to pay a fee of course...

    Got Refusal Letter :(

Does your lawyer not have proof of delivery to the embassy? Any lawyer worth their salt should send documents via tracked mail or courier and keep meticulous records of them. If they do have proof of delivery, then the embassy may allow extra time to resubmit the lost documents.

moving to canada while PR is still not complete

Can you quit your job from Canada? I know of people who have taken leave, travelled, then quit while they're still away. That way you could travel to Canada for a holiday while still on your H1-B. You could stay with your husband for a holiday and then make a decision about staying longer. It...

Applying for PR while on implied status

Please don't take any of this as gospel as I am not an expert in this, but no one else has responded so here goes... As I understand it you are fine to apply for PR while on Implied Status. I don't think you even need to have a valid status when you apply. However, as I understand it, outland...

Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

Yup. I'm on a kiwi passport and travel to the US very regularly by land as I live in Vancouver, and this is the usual process. If we're planning on traveling on say, the Friday evening of a long weekend when my previous 90 day period is already up, I'll often zap down to the border a day or two...

Thread For applications Through SYDNEY (AUSTRALIA) Office

That is a great piece of advice - thank you! When I was on implied status for a while in between temporary resident visas, ICBC wouldn't renew my drivers licence, which was a HUGE hassle. If others have successfully had licenses issued based on the PR AOR letters (albeit possibly in different...

Ms. Malawi, Could you please update the spreadsheet with my AOR for stage two as received today, March 11? As this is the first correspondence I've actually received from CIC, this was pretty exciting for me! I am happy to know it's now in the Sydney Office's safe(?) hands. Thank you!!

Hey Braziliangirl, I don't want to freak you out but have you seen this thread: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/processing-time-mississauga-t136040.0.html I admit, I am a little worried.... :o Apparently another November applicant has been told their file has...

    November 2012 Applicants Unite!

That's Member of Parliament. We approached my husband's local Member of Parliament as they can often get answers from CIC that we normal folks can't. nzandcanada posted a link earlier for finding your MP - even though your husband is not currently in Canada maybe he could approach the MP of...

Thanks so much for the tip to get the MP involved! Our MP's office was somewhat reluctant at first but they have agreed to help, so we'll see what happens.
