I have to say I had tears in my eyes when I received that phone call, I hadn't felt that much relief in such a long time, especially because I'm extremely afraid of public speaking and very shy, so yes, that was a blessing!

I didn't have a hearing, I received a phone call from the IAD a week before the hearing date and they told me my appeal was allowed by the minister. I got a letter from the minister's counsel on the same day, and then a letter from the IAD about two weeks after.

I waited one and half months, but I kinda feel like I had to nudge them, I sent the original visa office an e-mail after not hearing from them for all that time and then two days later I got the med and form request from Ottawa.

That must be record time, people usually wait months, so happy for you, your nightmare will soon be over. I'm so used to bad news that I'm already expecting the worst with my case haha.

You have to correct that, it's very easy for them to find out and say you misrepresented, so it's better if you are honest and let them know you weren't aware it wasn't Canada only. Also keep in mind that if you got your PR refused then you appealed and won, that also counts as being denied a visa.

I think DNA testing is only done in sponsorship cases when they have doubts as to whether or not there's a genetic parent-child connection or if you have not provided sufficient documents.
