    A strain on your relationship?

Re: A strain on your relationship I've also mentioned elsewhere that a spousal visa should be implemented. If a person is your wife or husband what better reason is there for them to be allowed into the country? They have visitation visa, tourist visas, parental visas, etc, ....

That sounds very good!! I hope the news is great, but I also wonder from the time a person gets the DM how long before the courier actually delivers the package?

    still waiting

Some cases go very quickly while others take a lot longer. An acquaintance from work sent their documents to Mississauga about 7 months after my wife and I. It took 8 months start to finish for them and she landed in Canada a week ago, .. while my wife and I still wait. From what someone on here...

Where is this mythical "instruction guide"

The paperwork drove me nuts. I think they must purposely make it frustrating with the idea that if a couple can get through that with any sanity left they just might stand a chance. I've always hated anything to do with clerical work, but fortunately when my wife was younger she worked for quite...

    A strain on your relationship?

I guess if the illegals know the loop holes they can get away with pretty much anything. Too bad there isn't a way to close those up.

Man, ... everybody talking about food (I think) :-[ and with this horrid cold my dinner had no taste at all. (Janes Breaded Chicken Breasts, and deep fried French Fries). 8) I know, .. not much of a meal to begin with but about all I had the energy to throw together. :o

    A strain on your relationship?

Before I met my wife I had met another woman from the Philippines I was interested in, and we tried to get her a visitation visa. Even after me sending all the info that was required of me we were turned down flat and told not to reapply unless there were significant changes. A persons social...

Fiance Visa, .. a better alternative

I hope so too. There has to be some fair way to speed things up, and harsh punishments for those who are ruining it for everyone else right now would be a good start. Everyone deserves to be able to live with their spouse really fast after marriage. IMO the new probationary PR card should make...

Thanks Halfmoon :) These past few nights, I think I've been awake more than I've been sleeping. This is when I could really use my wife here to baby me through, but the forum and new friends here definitely make my days more fun, and it also gives me something to do.

Thanks so much Saint4peace and also Kev1n. It's nice participating in the forum and adding my thoughts. Great bunch of people in here! Between this cold I'm fighting and the time I spend chatting with my wife, I don't get on to ad my comments as much as I could. ;D

    A strain on your relationship?

Unfortunately Bonitanita the Philippines is a very difficult (almost impossible) place for anyone to get a visa to Canada. In almost every case unless the applicant is very well off and has a reason to go back they'll reject your application faster than you can blink an eye.

    A strain on your relationship?

I think my wife's feeling the same way as yours as far as feeling bad about the strain on me. When we met she was working in a call center, and did for probably the first 6 month, but they laid off 25 eventually and she was in that group. She worked for a friend for probably a month or a bit...

Fiance Visa, .. a better alternative

Agree completely. When I think of how much most of us send each month to take care of our spouses, I bet a lot would agree to that.

Fiance Visa, .. a better alternative

Thank you for the answer as to why. It makes a lot of sense the way you put it, .. but they really have to come up with something better so husbands and wives don't have to spend such long periods of time apart when the marriage is still new. The best and most exciting times a husband and wife...

Fiance Visa, .. a better alternative

I think another point I'd like to make about the way things are done now is the amount of money that leaves our own economy as we wait countless month and sometimes countless years (depending on what country your spouse is from) before they're finally approved. Speaking for myself alone, from...

Fiance Visa, .. a better alternative

Some of the points are well taken however there are certain parts of the world where they don't give out visas to come to Canada very easily. The Philippines is one of those. Unless you have a really good job to return to and lots of money in the bank, chances are Canada's not giving you a visa...

Greetings Koukla74 and welcome to the forums, I'm a bit of a newbie in here myself, though both my wife and I have been reading what ever we thought might apply to or help us on the Manila part of the forum for quite some time. I'm really sorry to read what happened, but as someone else...
