SYDNEY OFFICE - Decision made, how long until letter received?

Jeez, that was fast!! I assume an interview wasn't requested? Also, is there any other info on the CIC online site (i.e. Were medical results received). If so, then it seems the typical wait, from what I've been reading here, is a couple of weeks, maybe even a month...I honestly do not know if...

I think sounion meant to say Outland :)

Landing in Toronto but destination is another city

Typically the first airport you arrive in in Canada is where you clear customs. And yes, the customs area will usually have its own luggage carousel so you would pick it up before transferring (and then dump it off again). The airport will have this all figured out :) I'd just make sure you...

    Common law interview

I hate to be the Devil's advocate here, but I just want to ensure you are aware...the important definition of "common law" in this case is the one used specifically by CIC, which is stated as follows: "Refers to a person who is living in a conjugal relationship with another person (opposite or...

    sponsor my wife

Hi again, For the police check, the exact process varies depending on the country of origin. The full details are at this link. The IMM5401 is your receipt of payment. You should receive this either by mail, or online (if you pay online). Print this out and include it with your application...

    March 2013 Applicant

My gut feeling is, don't worry...you and I seem to be on pretty similar timelines and the fact that there's a Decision Made should mean the COPR is on its way to your wife. When you applied for the extension to the Visitor Record (I did the same thing), did you specify the length of the period...

    sponsor my wife

1+2: You really need to submit everything at once, or else, as stated above, your application may be returned as incomplete. Basically, you need to get your police check and medical check done before applying, then include the results (the proof of examination for the medical, the result for...

American man to marry Canadian woman

Scylla pretty much covers all the bases for the work question. To answer your last question...by applying inland you receive Implied Status, which permits you to stay in the country for the entire duration of the process. Actually, not only does it allow you to stay but it, for all intents and...

Common law and divorce of former spouse

I don't know what the "right" thing to say will be since I obviously got hassled in the past too...but you ARE allowed to stay for 6 months as long as the border guard believes you will return when it is over. You don't necessarily have to say you're only visiting a couple of weeks and...

Common law and divorce of former spouse

A Nexus card probably doesn't hurt, but I don't have one so I wouldn't know specifically what about it will let you cross easier, or whether it will mean less questions. Since you're crossing by car, the best advice I can give you is, don't have a carload of stuff. Two, maybe three pieces of...

Common law and divorce of former spouse

From what I've read, for Canadian immigration purposes you are considered Common-law once you've lived continuously with your partner for 12 months...it doesn't appear to specifically say anything about his marital status. By the way, as you might have read elsewhere on this forum, be VERY...

    CPP-Ottawa

They'll send it by email to the applicant that was what was provided. I don't think there's a clear-cut way to correlate the date of Medical Results Received to the overall processing. Mine was done 2 1/2 months before we even applied and they only updated our status as such last month, right...

    Waiting for FBI clearance.

To request an FBI background check you need to fill out a specific application form and send it along with the payment and the fingerprints. All the details are here.

    Waiting for FBI clearance.

They will mail it to a Canadian address. The application form actually lets you specify a country for the mailing address (though I'm not sure that means ANY country) so you don't need a separate letter requesting that. As of this month it seems they don't actually accept SASE's anymore anyways.

Mine took about 6 weeks, so your figures are probably correct.

    Waiting for FBI clearance.

Hi again, From the CIC website: "You must get one from each country or territory where you have lived for six or more months in a row since the age of 18." So I would consider your application as incomplete without it. They may not send the whole thing back (but they could) but they WILL ask...

    Advice needed

Hi there, Getting an FBI clearance letter takes, on average, about 6 weeks. You need to send them fingerprints on the appropriate form (form FD-258) along with the application form and payment. Full details can be found here.

    Waiting for FBI clearance.

I can't say for sure that's it's a definite no-no to not include the police check with your original application, but I would strongly suggest you wait. I don't think you will simplify the process at all by sending in everything else first and then the FBI check when you receive it...in all...

    March 2013 Applicant

I'm guessing it's because they determined that my wife's been staying with me for some time in Canada as a visitor already (probably either from extended Visitor Records, or maybe I outright stated it somewhere in the application forms). Fortunately it wasn't a huge deal...we got digital...

Congratulations! May I ask what was your timeline? (i.e. application date, SA date, Passport Request date...all the juicy details). And which visa office?
