My wife just received SA. Gonna put everything in the spreadsheet soon.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

He would retain his Canadian citizenship regardless of if he became a U.S. citizen. I was just thinking that if he was close to 5 years, he could become a U.S. citizen, then you could go to Canada, and you all could return to the U.S. whenever you pleased. But yeah, another 3 years probably...

Crossiibg Canadian border with American fiancé

Ah, I was mixed up because you said "driving her back after Christmas". Regardless, you're good to go, man. Don't think you'll have any trouble.

Crossiibg Canadian border with American fiancé

Not sure what you mean by "return ticket" if you're driving, but it sounds like it will be fine. Don't think you need to worry. My wife and I cross the border all the time to see her family and they've never really given us a hard time.

Sponsoring spouse while both of us are outside Canada

We're applying outland. While I may be applying to a Canadian university for a PhD program in the near future, we decided to wait until I'm confirmed as a PR to try it. In your case, it seems like a reasonable way to go. I should have clarified my situation earlier: my wife lives with me in the...

Sponsoring spouse while both of us are outside Canada

If Indian applications are processed very...

**OCTOBER 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS**

Yeah, that's pretty nitpicky. I went to the courthouse and got a certified copy of our marriage certificate because I was worried about the "ceremonial" one they give you the day of your wedding. We just photocopied my wife's birth certificate. Hopefully that will be enough.

**OCTOBER 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS**

Was it a document for your spouse/sponsor? If so, that could explain the hold up.

**OCTOBER 2016 - OUTLAND SPOUSAL APPLICANTS**

That's discouraging. I'm guessing you're also an American. I see your AOR took a while too. My app was received on 11-30 and we got AOR on 12-9.

    US outland applicants' thread :)

I'm not sure how close he is to being in the U.S. for 5 years, but once he gets there he's eligible to apply for U.S. citizenship. It only takes 2-3 months as well. My wife became a U.S. citizen (she's originally from Canada) somewhat recently and we're going to Canada now. To your particular...
