When you look at any NOC description, it usually starts with a full sentence, and then says "duties include" blablabla. The full sentence prior to the list of duties is the "lead statement".

Yes, you do. And yes, it's nuts. And make sure you use "assist" and NOT "help". Someone included the lead statement and all of the right duties but used "help" instead of "assist" and got rejected.

Yes. Show us your actual letter. They are a huge pain and they want those exact words. If you did not include them, it may be why you were rejected. If you show us the letter we could confirm that for you.

I had the same issue, and what I ended up doing was to draft a letter where instead of using the job title provided by the company, I made the company sign a letter on which the job title used was the one given under the NOC code. So, I am sure that "Lab associate" could be called something...

I would say withdraw, correct and re-apply. And before you re-apply, post your letter and NOC code here so that we can check them. I think you only need to send them an email to withdraw, however I am not sure if they would send your package back (I actually think they would not...)

Thanks for the update, your case will likely give us a lot of information regarding RA.

Hi guys, I just sent my 2nd application, in which I included both TA and RA. I claimed 20 hour per week for RA, 10 hours per week for TA, and mentioned that I was conducting full time studies (15 hours per week). So, what is this new thing about not accepting RA anymore? Should I withdraw...

I may be late in the game, but would you mind telling us how you managed to get them to reopen your 1st file, and what was the issue with it? They are usually extremely strict and don't want to hear anything following rejections, so did you appeal, get a lawyer, etc..? Thanks!

For ME it matches, for them, that's another story. Would you mind posting your entire letter, and the entire NOC description? I do believe that the duties match, but you also need the lead statement, and if you don't have it, you will get rejected for sure. So, post the entire thing and we'll...

Could you post your letter and both of the NOC descriptions here? My reply was a bit confusing, what I meant was that even if you did update the NOC code, they would likely find issues within the initial letter, so you might have to update BOTH. The danger is to have duties matching several NOCs...

The reason I got rejected was indeed because the duties in the letter did not fully match the lead statement/duties for the NOC code I had chosen. When I applied, the stream was pretty new and there had not been any rejections yet, as all cases were under study. So, I got my supervisor to write...

Under the PhD stream, I would advise against using any other NOC than TA/RA (NOC 4021) for the experience you got duing your PhD. I think it's way too risky (and that's the reason why I got rejected). Did you have a Teaching Assistanship or Research Assistanship during your PhD? If so, that's...

Be careful with the English test! It has to be less than 2 years old, if it's older you will have to retake it, even if you're from an English speaking country.

Hi everyone, first, congratulations to all the applicants who have been receiving good news recently. I am writing to ask about the language test: I took a language test less than 2 years ago; I am planning on reapplying for PR in the next few months. My spouse is from France, but I am the...

MJ2 you definitely have a basis for appeal. Instead of using the 1,100 $ to reapply, go see an immigration lawyer, and appeal. Your case is definitely one of the "unfair, not understandable rejections" ones.
