I just called the CIC through this number +16139444000 from my Canadian internet line. I then dialed 1 for English, and the system offered the choice between 1 for Trade... and 2 for Humanitarian Aid...and after a long pause offered more options starting back at 1 for which CIC was option 2...

Right, I understand. I meant in comparison to mine :-( his timeline is good. It will be 18 months for me soon and still did not take my test :-( I agree that RQ after test is not very convenient.

Thanks zombie.raised, in fact it does make a difference, transferring files between offices takes time too and you are right it does not matter where I take my test as long as it is fast. I did not know Scarborough was the slowest, well at least now I know the reason for moving files :-)

CIC requires applicants to notify them but then it is up to you, you decide. One thing you should NEVER do is to postpone your Oath or Test, NEVER! I left after applying for citizenship (met the required days, in fact more then 1095 days) and now waiting for my test. So far no RQ but won't be...

No, it does not mean that. In fact anyone can get RQ, does not matter they live the country or not. At least that is what I learned in this forum from many applicants. I would still suggest to notify CIC if you leave for more then 2 weeks, it is more fair and you can travel in peace.

In addition to what eileenf said, make sure you keep a valid mailing address to check it often.
