Hi. Any of you guys live in Detroit? The city has a reputation as the crime capital of the USA? How dangerous is it? I heard many live in the suburb because of the crime? Is it that bad? There are some job openings in the city, but I wonder if I should even bother to apply.

Graduate assistant experience for immigration under FSW

2 terms per year for 5 years is OK, and you take off a 4 mo spring term each year.

Graduate assistant experience for immigration under FSW

I think it can be even four months. Many Canadian universities run on a three term system.

Graduate assistant experience for immigration under FSW

Yeah, you can find the answer somewhere in OP. I saw it months ago. It should be around 1500 hours in total.

Yeah, there's been some movement in the files of graduate students, especially PhD students studying in Canada.

Should be full nude while medical check up?

I'm not kidding. She put on a disposable plastic glove though. That was to check for rectal cancer. It's quite common in the US. I read stories about medical students fingering each other's anus to practice this in medical school.

Should be full nude while medical check up?

No, a routine checkup includes touching your balls and putting a finger in your anus. I was surprised by this, more so because a young female doctor who looked like an Indian did this to me. So be prepared. It happened in the US.

Applications filed through NS --> Buffalo (Filed from USA)

It seems you're just applying to Sydney NS CIO. My advice is to prepare your app as thoroughly as possible, and don't try to hide anything. For time lines, visit trackitt.com. There are more In-Canada applicants on trackitt.com than here.

Applications filed through NS --> Buffalo (Filed from USA)

My guess is that Buffalo transfers apps if they look all right--well above 67--and then Detroit receives them and takes a quick look at them again for IA. If some docs are missing or it doesn't look like it's going to take a short time for IA, they put them aside and want to look at them later...

File transferred from Buffalo to Detroit.

Your file is moving very fast. Are you in Canada or in the US? Or do you have a relative or a job (AE) in Canada?

Life in Canada more deadly for immigrants?

Ha ha ha...yeah all these statistics are unreliable, but it's frigging cold in winter and fish's expensive and good jobs are hard to come by even for the Canadian-born!

Applications filed through NS --> Buffalo (Filed from USA)

I agree Detroit seems to be the fastest in the US, but they process apps inconsistently after receiving apps from Buffalo. Some are requested for medical a week after transfer, but others have to wait for the full three months. I'm trying to figure out what's the difference between these two...

The Buffalo checklist changed in Oct 09, when the new doc requirements such as billing statements were added. They weren't required before Oct 09, at least in Buffalo.

Applications filed through NS --> Buffalo (Filed from USA)

Hi guys, do you know why some apps stay in Buffalo while others get transferred to the other visa offices? Many say it's not good to stay in Buffalo even if your case is progressing because there's often a long delay even after sending medicals. Which of the five visa offices is the fastest? Can...

    Buffalo rejects applications?

I have seen many rejections, some even after transfer to other visa offices, some for nitpicky reasons, such as the source of your settlement funds.
