I will be landing sometimes in March and don't worry, I'll post my experience. I'll make sure I have enough funds in my account to meet the requirement. Will be carrying some in cash and the rest on a recently printed bank statement. Cheers.

This question has not been answered.... I would say the UK bank statement should be acceptable as proof of funds. There is no place where it is stated that proof of funds must be in traveller's cheque, cash or bank draft. It only says 'available and transferrable'. Check these links...
