This is very disheartening to see that Buffalo took almost 8 months to change the status from 'applicn recd' to 'in process'. Any idea how much more time will it take before they make any kind of decision? cheers!

I would say use a lawyer if you don't have much time to spend finding out which is the right way for the process/docs submissions etc..Again even with time,sometimes you are left wondering as there is no clear direction due to lack of info.. But having said that pitfalls might be that you are...

I am in total agreement with BobbyB. However unfortunately I found a note on Buffalo's office website clearly mentioning that police certificate should not be more than 3 months old. Now I guess it's left to discretion of visa officer to decide if this applies to the country in which you are...

You need to get a certificate from the marriage registrar..They have a specific format for the same which is then affixed with a seal from registrar.. Try going to the local office of the town where you got married.. cheers!
