I know no one can answer this with certainty, but those of us who got e-mails saying they anticipate sending passport requests in Dec/Jan; does this mean its done and approved and only a matter of 2 more months? any views would be appreciated.

I know for a fact that Qatar also had similar plans sometime mid of 2010. However, it was "Postponed" for an indefinite period later. However, even if they do impose this regulation, I am sure the requirements would be far less then for third world countries.
