    Flagpoling.... Any border?

Well, I just went there for the flagpoling. And decided to make it an overnight shopping trip out of it, haha :) I am a Danish citizen currently residing in Canada as I wait for my PR. And while it does suck that I currently can’t work in the field that I want, I am very grateful to just have...

    Flagpoling.... Any border?

That is absolutely fair! And I have gotten a medical since acquiring the work permit to be able to have the restrictions removed, of course. I just wish it would have been clear that I should have done an upfront medical before applying if I wanted a job in that field, as there was information...

    Flagpoling.... Any border?

There are 3 restrictions on mine. 1. Not Authorized to work in childcare, primary/secondary school teaching, health service field occupations 2. Unless authorized, prohibited from attending any educational institution, or taking any academic, professional or vocational training course. 3. Not...

    Flagpoling.... Any border?

Update: My flagpoling at Emerson ended up being unsuccessful. I spent the night in the States and didn’t have any issues with immigration what so ever, however, they said that because I am not an US citizen, already have an OWP and am of valid status, they could not remove the restrictions. I...

    Flagpoling.... Any border?

Yeah, that did strike me as rather odd. Well, my plan is to drive down tomorrow, spend a night in the States and drive back on Friday. Hopefully with a new OWP that lets me work in a school setting!

    February 2018 inland spousal sponsorship

I personally just checked the status of my application online and one day it just said “medical passed” under the medical section. I wasn’t notified of it in anyway... so maybe just check your account regularly! Once you pass your medical, I believe the next step is the background check and you...

Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications 2017 timeline and updates

Correct me if I’m wrong, but does it seem like a lot of applicants are getting their DMs at the 10-11month mark?

    Flagpoling.... Any border?

Well, the thing is, the Emerson border is not listed to have Immigration Services on the CIC website, so I’m wondering if they’d even be able to remove that restriction? I’m only concerned because it’s an 8 hour drive away, so it would mean taking 2 days off work - which I’d rather not do if...

    Flagpoling.... Any border?

So, I would really like to Remote the restrictions on my OWP as soon as possible, and as far as I’ve been able to research, I’m only able to do that via flagpoling. Does anybody know if this is possible at ANY border or just by Niagra? I’m in Manitoba and thinking of going to the Emerson border...

Wow, that sounds awesome! Do you think it’s like that at all international airports in Canada? I’m just quite far from Toronto (I’m in Manitoba).

Applying for spousal PR now, would like to go to Canadian university September 2019. Possible?

It sounds like you are applying Outland, correct? In that case, I believe there is a chance you could start studying in Canada in September, since the process doesn’t take as long as inland applications. But since you have to apply to the university well ahead of time, I’m not sure if that would...

2018 Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications: timeline and updates

When you get the OWP, I believe you will become eligible for the free provincial health insurance. As for your spouse’s insurance, I guess it depends on where he gets his insurance - you two should contact the insurance company for that information.

2018 Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications: timeline and updates

Oh, I see! The flagpoling isn’t frowned upon at all? And how did you guys do it - did you just show up at the border and explain the situation, or...? I’m just confused because most people in this forum seem to think it’s not a good idea to leave the country, as there is a risk you not getting...

2018 Spousal Sponsorship in-land Applications: timeline and updates

Hello! February 8th applicant here. A couple weeks ago, I went to get a medical exam done, as I want to get the restrictions removed from my OWP. I never formally received a medical request from CIC in regards to my PR application, but upon logging into my account today, I can see that under my...

    OWP restrictions

I don’t actually have to wait to get the formal request? I just thought that I had read somewhere in these forums that you have to wait for the request, because the doctor has to be able to see that you were requested to do the medical exam or something like that.

Oh, I see! Looks like people who didn’t apply for an OPW are getting medical requests quicker than the people who also applied for an OPW!

Before you pay any fees, please review all your information and make sure your time in Canada has been legal - i.e. were you allowed to work once you stopped studying? Check the conditions of the visa you got and make sure everything is in order.

Oh, okay. I thought there was a waiting time of 4-5 months, but I guess it’s more like 6-7. I wish I could just do the medical ASAP and get it over with, lol

    OWP restrictions

Awesome - thanks! So it would probably be best for me to wait until I get the medical request for the PR application and then send the request to have my OWP conditions change after?
