I believe you can submit for your work permit extension with a covering letter that provides the LMO file number obtained from the case processing officer at service canada.

It will be good to also know average processing times for Ontario. Is it reasonable to assume that Ontario LMO's are processed in the same timeline as BC, for e.g.?

Applied on 29 July in Ontario. No outcome yet. Waiting for good news in the next 2 weeks.

@ Storezt30 LMO has to be applied by the employer, not by the prospective employee. Mine was applied by my employer. So am a bit unsure how you applied for your LMO?

@Storezt30 Currently the waiting time for LMO's from date of application is between 10 to 12 weeks atleast. :) When was your LMO applied? Mine was applied on 29 July and no response till date.

No ... Application for LMO needs some documents that need to be prepared e.g. Proof of advertising the job on the web for 14 days, etc. Ideally LMO should be applied within 2 to 3 weeks of having received the offer letter.

@HARTBEAT118 Based on what I know, if your application does not have an LMO, your application will be returned as refused.

I am in the same situation. I want to apply for my work permit in India (country of nationality) as Vietnam (country of residence) takes 7 months to process my application. If I apply for my work permit online through CIC, what is the assurance that the application will be processed by...

Everything in this sounds fishy to me. Currently LMO approvals are taking anywhere between 10 to 14 weeks as a minimum. If you are India (I am guessing?), you have to apply for work permit outside Canada from the Canadian Embassy in your country. Processing time between 60 to 90 days...

@ Bravado, Congrats on your LMO. Your patience has paid off! All the best with your work permit. Some questions for you please: 1/ What province did you apply? What NOC? 2/ What were the questions from Service Canada during their first and second call? Thank you.

Employer confirmed no LMO received till date. But based on the other LMOs she submitted for other recruits, she is saying its taking upto about 14 weeks in some cases. I have 2 options. Either get frustrated and wait or be cool and wait. I am going to be cool and wait !! 8)

@hercolis, my LMO was submitted on 29 July 13. No response yet. Been advised processing time could be between 8 to 12 weeks. You've crossed more than half the well, what's left of it is not much. At least that's what I tell myself everyday. You'll be through soon. All the best.

On this forum, I've seen people say that the website says 5 days to ass your name but in reality, it's taking up to 3 to 5 weeks. All the best anyway

@1998a, my LMO was applied on 29 July in Toronto. Same date as you. No response yet. My employer told me that it could take between 8 to 12 weeks. 20 weeks seems excessive and I don't think is factual. If they've confirmed receipt of application, all you can do is wait. I guess another 3 to 4...
