Fiance Visa, .. a better alternative

I agree with this as well. I want to live with my boyfriend but refuse to just get married so we can live in the same place. In fact my boyfriend refused to marry me until we had lived together. Why? Because although we knew each other well before I came to live with him, spending a few weeks...

    A strain on your relationship?

It will be worth it. I know when my boyfriend and I were apart MSN chat was the worst thing in the world. Some days it would work, others not so much. Then skype would drop our calls and somedays not even work at all. I'm lucky in that we're together while my application is being processed, and...

    PPR Ottawa ?

Congrats to santoki and Janna3D! I hope this means CPP-O has finally figured out a good system and will start processing apps more efficiently and quickly. I wanna land early next spring so I can go back to work and start helping my boyfriend save for our house.

Fiance Visa, .. a better alternative

It is, but it's doable as well. Or hey, you could always try to immigrate to your spouse's country. My main point is though, I'm happy you have to show that you are actually committed to each other before getting PR. I mean yeah you can easily fake a marriage, but divorces are messy and...

    A strain on your relationship?

I paid for almost all of my fees and expenses for sponsorship as well. Originally we were supposed to pay for them 50/50, but then my boyfriend's work slowed down alot and bills piled up, so I used alot of my savings from my last month of work to just pay for everything. The only thing he's...

Fiance Visa, .. a better alternative

Not necessarily, since that would mean an increased amount of people going to different countries and finding someone they barely know and sponsoring said person. Which leads to an increase in the probability of fraudulent marriages. You can apply inland in which case you don't have to leave...

    CIC has a new look

Is it sad that I'm extremely intrigued by the "games" section? Haha, I swear I need to get my PR so I can get back to working and having a life.

Your First Winter - Just for Laughs!!

My feet stay cold too, but I hate cold weather. I'd rather bask in the sun all day when it's 38° C, than spend 5 minutes outside when it's -15.

    A strain on your relationship?

When I first came to visit my boyfriend in Canada, my best friend back home told me she was afraid I'd be killed by a logger and left to die in a snow covered forest, while possibly being eaten by a bear. My mom also asked me if there were stop lights up here when I got back. I'm from North...

    A strain on your relationship?

I'm at the point where I think I'm going to just outright ignore the subject when they bring it up or say I don't feel like talking about it.

You can call from outside Canada. You just have to call 1 613 944 4000 and choose something about learning about your PR application. I can't remember all the details, but I called while I was in the US visiting my family. That's how I found out my boyfriend had been approved as my sponsor.

    Love or Opportunity? Coffee Social

I bought my boyfriend's presents online already. Now we just have to go into town and brave the shopping lines at the stores to get stuff for his family. That I am not looking forward to.

    A strain on your relationship?

Ugh you have no idea. His mom and grandmother are the worst. Every week his mom asks me "so are you done with that permanent residency thing again? Remind me why you can't work?" Oh and my favourite which is "well I know of a great online college program you can take. It's only $10,000." I mean...

    A strain on your relationship?

No we live in Grande Prairie. My boyfriend and his uncle just work on local oil and gas leases nearby. He works long hours, but is almost always home at night, so it's worth it. And I'll pray that you and your husband get a miracle so you can get on with your lives. My boyfriend has family in...

Haha, yeah I guess I got a little too happy. I hope and pray that I'll be in the 30% or 50% category at the most. And everyone else here as well.

    A strain on your relationship?

That sucks, bonitanita. My boyfriend works in the Alberta oilfield, but luckily he is able to work near home and comes home every day 99% of the time. On rare occassions he goes out to camp, which does suck. All I can say is to try to stick it out and I'll give you a virtual hug. :) I'm only 23...
