    Few questions before applying citizenship

    1. Did you apply for the renewable of work permit before the first one expired? If yes, you have implied status and the 8 day gap must be written on the form with the status as implied. Do not leave any gaps. 2. Not too sure. I do not see the point of including the divorce certificate. I assume...

    April 2018 - Citizenship Applicant

Oath letter/email invite is not a requirement to attend the oath as email/mail could get lost/not delivered correctly. If it's still not on ECAS, use the webform or call IRCC again to confirm the location, date and time. Tell them to email you the list of documents required for the oath and...

    April 2018 - Citizenship Applicant

At my oath ceremony (as with many others), they only took the media release form and PR card back, no other documents (passports, CoPR etc.) checked. However, to make sure everything is in order, bring all documents on their list. It is written clearly and official so we should follow it. After...

Omission of place of birth in Passport

I am just curious about the reason for someone to not want their original birthplace to be shown on the passport.

Lost COPR- CIC asking for police report for oath ceremony

As other members already mentioned, they most likely will not check your CoPR at the ceremony. All they need is the PR card. Same thing happened at my ceremony. However, for future pension purpose I suggest you to file for a CoPR replacement, I think they call it Verification of status now...

    Citizenship exam

Everyone is different. They also have different versions of the test, certain version is said to be a bit more challenging than others. I also find the older you are (the majority of applicants), the harder it is to study. I said it based on my own experience. I did overstudy for the test, and I...

    Citizenship exam

It's only easy for people who study. Read the books at least two times, read one chapter a day if you find it easier to absorb the materials, listen to the audio version if that helps. If needed, take a couple practice tests online (do not stress too much as these tests did not help me personally).

    Quick question

If the expired passport is within the 5 year period then submit a copy, if not then no need. And keep in mind expired passport will not be considered as a valid ID As for my application, I include a copy of my current passport as 1 ID and driver license as the second ID. No issues.

    Quick question

There is no point in providing two copies of the same document. Just use one from the list jc94 listed above.

    Canada Passport application Help

Agree with the ink colour, either black or blue. The instruction was written on the top of the first page so make sure you follow it. I heard about the XXX for first/last name on this forum. I'll let other member chime in since I have no personal experience in this matter. However I strongly...

Which dates for the citizenship questionnaire?

As other members already mentioned, I strongly suggest you to get CoPR dates fixed before applying for citizenship, - During the interview they might check and compare the dates on CoPR, which can be different with CBSA record since CoPR was issued with wrong dates etc. - You will need it later...

    Residential Address Abroad?

Here is my two cents, As long as the 1095 days are within the 5 year period preceding the application date the PR should be fine. However, the application might undergo more scrutiny because of the living abroad situation (i.e tax, interview officer might question etc.). Make sure tax is paid...

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

We do not know which statistical method they use to come up with the number or whether they selectively pull data (only from "routine" applicants, not the outliners etc.). This forum is way too small to even give any good trending result. You need to pool numbers from previous years as well if...

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

I was in the same situation that I never received any email invite like the majority of other applicants. There was just an update on ECAS showing they sent me an invite. I called and the lady told me to print out a copy of ECAS status to show as proof. I ended up receiving a letter exactly 7...

    May 2018 - Citizenship Applicants

Again this is just an estimate based on all the applications IRCC received. Keep in mind this forum represents a very small portion of the entire pool of applicants. The majority will not be on this forum, some are silent readers and some do not update their status on the tracking sheet after a...

    Entry with PR status...

Keep in mind, even though the rules say so, a person who violates RO obligation is more likely to get under scrutiny when applying for PR renewal/citizenship.

Guarantor and references for new canadian passports

References do not need to be physically in Canada. BUT for the ease of contacting them if required, try to find ones who are residing in the country.

    April 2018 - Citizenship Applicant

I cannot comment on your GCMS note. Technically, you still have till April before pushing them to do anything. Do you plan to travel any time soon? If not let it expired. Do you plan on having both passports or just Canadian one? If you want to keep using the original country passport, renew it.
