Bill C-24 Second Reading on February 27th:

I think you're overreaching here. If your declared intent is one thing, but your apparent intent is another, you'll get an interview before you get citizenship. If your circumstances change after naturalization, I don't think you're going to be scrutinized. OTOH, if you later say "yeah, I got...

Bill C-24 Second Reading on February 27th:

And I don't think anyone is saying you must remain. The issue is intent immediately following naturalization. If your intent is to leave Canada (permanently) the day after you take the oath, you shouldn't be taking the oath. You have no interest in citizenship (i.e. participation) here, you...

Bill C-24 Second Reading on February 27th:

I think it's actually a sign of a broken system. If you have no intent to reside in Canada, WTH are you doing with PERMANENT residency papers? If your only intent is to gain citizenship so you can travel the world (and reside somewhere other than Canada) with a different passport... you're...

To whom does Intent to Reside rules apply?

And those people should never have been granted citizenship to start with -- that's citizenship of convenience and that sort of activity is what delays applications for legitimate reasons.

    May2014 applicants

From the experiences here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aqi6FPDNYK_xdGplaHhxWFhVQkxFTjB5LUZ2anU2clE&usp=sharing it appears as though it's about a month to six weeks right now for "In Progress" -- not sure if it shows up there before then.

    May2014 applicants

Since we're on the BMW (b*tch, moan, whine) front, I'd say this is a bunch of ridiculousness, too. There's no need for "safe" application -- you were here or you weren't. If you've included the presence calculator output, and you've included all your absences, there's no reason to wait, etc...

2014 applicant question 6 F did you provide your employment record?

On here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/CIT0002ETOC.asp#CIT0002E4 Under "Gather Documents" there is no mention of a requirement for employment records (only educational records). Furthermore, on the application checklist, there is no mention of employment records...

    Pre-clearance at Toronto Pearson?

WestJet should have escorted you to the front-of-the-line if the baggage was that late... or did you not think to ask them about it when the baggage was taking forever?

I sent to Ft. Erie. I think it got there more quickly. If you can, include a prepaid USPS envelope. You can buy the postage online and affix it yourself if you're in Canada. If we had done that, it would have arrived at least 3 days sooner.

Ultimately, there are more variables than just complexity. BUT, I do believe that complexity ties into it. If they don't have much to verify, the verification happens more quickly. Get the GCMS notes -- that doesn't bother Buffalo at all. Then if something stands out, contact the consulate...

Just to clarify, the "bugging" doesn't affect your processing time. It's an office in Ottawa that provides the GCMS notes out of the centralised database.

The visa was issued Nov 11. Buffalo sent it Nov 15. CanadaPost received it Nov 18 into their system. I'm CERTAIN that if I had sent a USPS prepaid envelope, it would have gone into the USPS system on Nov 15, at the latest. Having sent it to Buffalo instead of Ft Erie probably saved us 3-4...

We sent the documents request to them via snail mail as well. It was received. Don't count on the fax being received by the right person. If you want to have it sent separately, have your MP's office do it. If your MP is not being helpful, PM me and I'll get you the contact for our...

I was looking for the CIC web page that gave the transition dates, but it appears to have been removed. The short answer is that Buffalo's transition occurred in February/March 2011. Applications that were received in Buffalo prior to that date seemed to take about 3-4 months longer than...

I disagree. There are varying cases of complexity. A pair of high-school sweethearts that get married at 21 (and are now 23-24), having lived in one location and don't yet have kids make for a much easier case than a couple who are world-travellers and both parties are on their second or third...

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

I asked that a while ago, and apparently it can't be done. The loophole you could exploit is you book a ticket to the US, clear US customs, then "change your mind" about going. You would then need to be escorted to the Int'l arrivals (since you've had access to the duty free shops) where you...
