Nigerian Applicants for MPNP 2014 timelines....abeg!

Please note that this is just available for those that really want to settle in Morden. Do not apply there if you plan to move away afterwards, as they will report you for misrepresentation. You will waste their time and resources and take a spot that could have been used by someone wishing to...

Manitoba and Saskatchewan - got any settlement questions?

You could find them yourself. For Winnipeg, look up the employment or careers websites for Red River College and MITT if you are in nursing or health care aid, or the employment website of the University of Manitoba if you are a doctor. If you speak French, look up the employment website of the...

Not unless they also get a bachelor of education. Nobody can teach K-12 in Canada without a bachelor of education, no exceptions. But you could be an instructor at a post-secondary institution (university, college, or clinic). They often look for instructors or assistant instructors in the...

Manitoba and Saskatchewan - got any settlement questions?

You can't teach K-12 without a B.Ed in Canada, there's no way to get around that requirement. But you could be a college or university instructor, that's just four to six hours a week plus office hours, and if you're not making enough money you could complement it with tutoring (25-45 dollars an...

Manitoba and Saskatchewan - got any settlement questions?

The only sector where I know you can do this is teaching, depending on what they teach and the kind of school, they make between 40 and 60 dollars per hour, so they can definitely live with a part time job. But you need a bachelor of education. Maybe there are other industries where salaries are...

Manitoba and Saskatchewan - got any settlement questions?

I wasn't describing Winnipeg as a small city or bad for dating/meeting people, when I said people struggled when they moved back to "the country" I meant REALLY the country, i.e. small towns of 8,000 people. Winnipeg has a good social scene :) and for Canadian standards it is a medium sized...

Manitoba and Saskatchewan - got any settlement questions?

Why would Ottawa be any different in terms of opportunities in his field? He would always work for a provincial government, not the federal one, so I don't really see the advantage of Ottawa in this case.

Manitoba and Saskatchewan - got any settlement questions?

Vancouver is a lot like Seattle. The weather is the same, people are a lot into hiking, yoga, Starbucks (lol), organic food, sustainability, etc. It's really modern too. Also, they have a very large Chinese community and a significant Indian community, though not as big as the Chinese one...

Manitoba and Saskatchewan - got any settlement questions?

Where in the US are you coming from? If you don't want to disclose the city, just mention the general region :) I can't really tell you that settling in MB or SK is better than other places, it all depends on your personal preferences and experience. I come from a very large city and...

Pre-arrival services to learn how to look for work before you land

Not for all of them. Some require that you have received COPR, some require the pre-arrival letter, and some just need you to have received AOR (more specifically, the UCI number on the AOR). I recommend enrolling right away, because there are lots of information to receive, and it's best to...

    MPNP first step

I think I found this part. If I understand correctly, those who are immigrating through a strategic initiative that includes an exploratory visit require CLB 5, and for everyone else (namely those whose occupation is classified at National Occupational Classification C or D) only need CLB 4.

Where did you see CLB 5? I can only see CLB 4 on their website.

They didn't give you any good advice besides checking the website? That's too bad :( when they came over to our centre they asked us to invite people to visit their office. I am sorry they weren't more helpful.
