Please help me keep my British fiance in Canada until our wedding!

He had a regular work visa - his employer got an LMO to allow them to hire him, and then got another LMO at the end of the first year. He was able to get the extension on his work visa for another year by doing the application online.

Please help me keep my British fiance in Canada until our wedding!

So he has a work visa currently? Probably your best bet is to get his employer to apply for another LMO for another year, and just extend his work visa. That's what my husband did, he was here on 2 year long work visas while we got married and got his PR application improved.

    Experience With Xenophobia ...

Well said - I was going to write the same type of thing. Sometimes people are just trying to show an interest in your country, and don't really know what to ask!! As a Canadian (born and raised) I think most Canadians don't have any xenophobia, at least I haven't seen it!!! We're probably one of...

How did you organize/pack your application/evidence?

On our forms where we did our "essay" about how we met, how our relationship progressed, etc, I referenced extra proof that we sent in (such as "See attachment #1, copy of lease agreement", and numbered and labelled everything cross referenced to the essays. I think that makes it easy for them...

    Submitting a new medical

That's great, I think you did the right thing by doing it! We sent our copy directly to the Paris visa office to let them know it was done again. I think you should do that too :)

    Submitting a new medical

My husband's medical expired before his application would have been processed, so we chose to go ahead and redo the medical without being asked (it had been done quite a bit early for a work visa). I think that shaved a couple of months of waiting off our process. If you have the money to do...

    Sponsoring dependant child 21 married

I think you don't understand what a father-in-law is! It sounds like he is your STEP-FATHER, not your father in law. Your father in law would be your wife's father!

    Thread for outland Buffalo applicants!

I would suggest you go through the Paris office. My husband got his PPR in less than 5 months, and the other people on this board that went through Paris were around that time line also. Buffalo seems VERY unorganized and backed up from what I've seen on here.

    Do you recommend immigration consultants?

This is what we did too - we were completely confused about the whole process and didn't want to screw things up, so we had an hour long meeting with a lawyer that cost us about $200, and he answered all our basic questions. There have been many stories on here about people who had someone else...
