    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Probably as simple as them working on applications which are largely complete. Wouldn't surprise me if this frees up capacity once they get going again.

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Sounds like a slowdown across the board then. I suspect they may change some procedures in light of covid. I think that they're doing landing interviews by telephone now.

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Where's that news? I have friends doing an inland application right now, and they've been waiting over 30 days with no sign of activity.

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

I thought it was on CBC or something. I couldn't find the link earlier.

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

They mentioned the other day that they're almost finished returning people to Canada. That should free up some resources.

Maybe the letter of support thing for students?

I noticed they updated this link https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/coronavirus-covid19/immigration-applicants.html today. Can't see what they updated though.

Sure, they're still processing, but at a very slow rate. It's likely they concentrating on ones that are already in the system, and once staff start coming back (I suspect they've been re-assigned to the covid effort), the will start working on the new applications (like ours).

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

    It'll pick up.

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

It'll happen. It's most likely in their best interests to limit how many people (in a general sense) enter the country while we're dealing with covid. It wouldn't surprise me if we start hearing something in the late-May to late-June range. It'll all work out in the end. They're not going...

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

I'm not getting too excited about the wait yet. I'm very sure that resources in the Immigration dept. have been reassigned to work on the covid effort. Furthermore, I bet not many can do biometrics, or medicals, and as others have mentioned, there are limited flights. We're both lucky we're...

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Probably not. It was just speculation on my part, because people can't finish their applications without biometrics.

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

I suspect that we'll know their processing has picked up once more biometric locations open up.

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

No idea. My estimate went from 3-6 months to 6-8 months (if we're lucky). I don't get too stressed out over it actually. It'll happen. Just at a slower pace.

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

They should move to electronic submission for Outland applications. You download the docs, print them, scan them, upload them and so on (or electronically sign etc). I'm guessing it would make it easier for people doing submissions, plus reduce one step in the office at Immigration (I'm...

Here's a list Canadian Federal essential services. https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/ntnl-scrt/crtcl-nfrstrctr/esf-sfe-en.aspx Canada’s National Strategy for Critical Infrastructure defines critical infrastructure as the processes, systems, facilities, technologies, networks, assets, and...

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

I'm in the govt. and I'm working from home. It's hard to say what's happening at Immigration. Need to be patient with Immigration. I'm quite sure they're processing still, but possibly at a slower pace to due to demands related to covid-19. My guess anyhow. I don't know any more than you...

    MARCH 2020 *Outland* Spousal Sponsorship

Looks like it'll be hard to do medicals and biometrics right now. Makes sense considering the situation with Covid-19. I'm fully expecting this process to take a bit longer.
